How to get the World Cup and Glasto in HD on the cheap?

We are expecting our first little one this summer, and more than likely to spend a bit more time in over the coming months.

Would love to make full use of our HD TV and watch the broadcasts for the World Cup and Glasto in HD.

We do not have any existing satellite dishes installed, but thought freesat HD may best option.

Would be interested in the cheapest option to get the HD broadcasts.

However living in a bungalow, we may have to fit the dish quite high up, and im not the best at DIY or heights! lol

I remember seeing an offer from Sky doing a install for around £90 or less without any more charges on top (not tied to contracts or subscriptions etc)...any of these going about at the moment?

can you get freview hd where you are? I don't know anything about the quality (probably worse than satalite) but it has and extra channel (4hd) plus I think more coming and just uses a normal ariel.

nope...not until next year

Your only opitions are a sky HD installation which will probably cost you plus the usual sky package rate +£10 a month (for HD) or a freesat HD installation which is your best bet if all you want is footy and Glasto which will be free to air. Perhaps look for someone local who will fit it if you buy it.

There are several places selling the receiver and dish package atm. B&Q do them (not sure if it's HD freesat though)

there is whats called Freesat from SKY. Where they do what i need for about £180ish... a bit more that i wanted to pay...and im pretty sure i saw the same thing for a lot cheaper in a deal on here (cant find it now though)

I can imagine that getting an aerial fitter in to do it will be expensive

Seriously you could do it yourself, my sky dish is about 8-10 feet up one of my outside walls.

Don't forget with sky you willl have a monthly package charge too (if that's not included in the £180)

Alternatively, I'm sure there are other places that will fit satellite dishes for less than £180ish... Where abouts do you live?

If you get Sky then I think there is a cooling off period in which you can cancel, Sky dont take the dish down if you cancel :whistling:

Depending on if your TV has freesat built in or not then you would possibly need a freesat box which can be had from argos for £68

Install is £80 from them
