How to lose 10 pounds (in weight!!)

Had to add the brackets before people started to say to send it to them.

What do you all suggest? Bearing in mind I have exams and can't really get out to exercise other than a walk at night.

Lots of people on here must have used lots of methods to lose weight.

I am not really overweight just want to get my weight lower and start exercising after my exams

go for a run during you lunch break or go to the gym, theres always time to exercise

I'm not, but I might have one anyway :-D

Not the cambridge diet as it costs about £35 a week

eat less cut out crap u will lose it slowly

+1 on that - it is very hard to lose weight just going to the gym and you will soon get fed up with the lack of results.. mainly because you will be building up muscle in the gym and muscle weighs more than fat. Of course you will be in better shape and look a lot better and maybe that is what you want but the only way to lose weight is to change your eating habits. just have your normal 3 meals a day and no snacks in between and drink loads of water

Diet was fine, don't eat rubbish at all, but since I have been off Uni I just eat more frequently, wanted to get the weight off fast, I know what to do diet wise

eat less rubbish.

I lost just over half a stone in 4 weeks from doing the following:

absolutely (almost) no rubbish - crisps,chocolate, fast food, takeaways (was christmas/new year so i wasnt as strict as could have been)

try to eat 4 or 5 small meals a day as appose to 2 or 3 large meals. each of these meals should have atleast some protein in (i did this to keep muscles 'fed' to help exercise but you could probably just eat 3 smaller meals a day and no snacks). if you get peckish throughout the day DONT grab a bag of crisps. If i get hungry I'll just grab a few cherry tomatoes or some pistachios or a banana etc.

doing cardio excersises is the only real way of burning calories quickly. atleast 20 mins a day of cardio is required if you want to lose weight quick. could be a brisk walk/jog/cycle/aerobics or buy a cheap skipping rope like i did. best exercise ive ever had i swear by it.


Its all about burning more calories than your taking in, but obviously you need to take in food to keep energy up so you can burn the calories, its just about eating the right food. Even if you are busy, im sure you can fit 20 mins a day in to do some cardio.

EDIT: Also +1 on whoever mentioned water. You can sometimes feel hungry but your actually just dehydrated so try drinking a glass of water every few hours. Lean meats like chicken or turkey are also very good for helping to lose weight.

Cut down on your portions, or catch the flu I lost 7lbs when I had the flu & haven't put it back on!

I would hope (though perhaps in vain) that when people suggest hitting the gym solely to lose weight, it is implied that they are suggesting cardio workouts and not ones focused on muscle building.

In any event it is worth reiterating that healthy eating is a significant part in both losing weight and becoming more healthy in general. No point in running every night if you're just coming home and eating a takeaway.

Relative weight is determined by comparing weights of identical volume, not weights of identical weights. If you took a pound of feather and a pound of gold they would weight the same too, but gold is obviously heavier than feathers. On your reasoning everything weighs the same.
The point relates to weight versus figure. A person who wants to lose weight can feasible work out in a gym, and through a process of effectively replacing fat with muscle they can look a lot better, but actually weigh the same or even more. Hence the point that the OP may wish to concentrate more on figure than weight, or alternatively if the weight gain is the priority it is important to concentrate on cardio and not workouts that build muscle, because ultimately the latter do not result in weight loss.

Im just messing, I put on weight when I 1st left the army (got lazy) excercised several times a week (not just cardio) and actually put on weight but lost inches.
