Are you sure its not you who is "fleeing off to their place after using credit"

Of course that's why he is looking to report himself to the police for fraud!

from a criminal point of view he has nothing to worry about unless he has taken part in the fraud,or knew about it and did nothing.

I think the only thing your friend would need to do is make sure that the credit reference agencies financially disassociate him from anyone at the address. Possibly get him to a credit file check to be sure that his own details have not been used too.

it's only fraud if they lied on the finance application forms

It's also fraud if they intentionally took out the credit / loans without intending to make payment, even if in their own name

OP hasn't said that they haven't repaid any of the money. ...and they must have repaid some to get a good credit rating.

Do you know for certain they have no intentions of paying off their debts?

I agree, I was just highlighting that it's also fraud if they don't intend to pay. Who is to say that the person up until now has had good accounts then decided to go all out for a defrauding session of non-payment.

Happens alot, build up a credit rating then go for the all time big loans etc, more profitable to get £5000 than £500 as the outcome will be the same, bad credit or criminal prosecution. So might as well make it worth while.

I'd be more worried about housing illegal immigrants / immigrants overstaying their works visa..........................oO
