Pretty well summed up by Daniel Bostock.

Women you're just not worth the same pay, I'm out hunting Wolly Mammoth while your gathering.

U so raciss

Hold on, let me just grab the popcorn.

Yah scary world. Imagine what will happen if employers had to legally pay the same wage per hour to men and women.

Would be even harder for the OP to get someone to sleep with him!

All I can tell you is the feminists screwed my mum out of 2-3 years pension.. they wanted to be equal so the government changed the retirement age for women.. nice move..
That was her words by the way..

If a pay gap existed, wouldnt you just hire all women as it would be cheaper?

My friend who's a HR manager (Girl Btw) reckons that bosses do tend to prefer men in the top jobs, apparently this is based on the fact that the company run a risk of losing the woman due to falling pregnant.

If any of those girls are Spurs supporters, and cockahoop cos we are second in the premier league today, they're ok with me! COYS!!

I'm quite touched our Graham took 5 minutes off thinking about paying TV licences to think about feminism

the pay gap is real. men who work part time earn something like 12% less than women who work part time. I will try and find my source.

Preggo sucks and also, so unnecessary with so many people here already. Why so many women keep doing it?

Maybe everyone fears these hormonal decisions will end being behind making business choices.

Cant afford house? Good school etc? Need propping up with government hand outs like tax credits? Child = Bad investment!

im afraid it does happen!
a teacher told me her family member has the same qualifications but the only difference is he is a male, about 3-4k less a year she said!

Does this mean in my workplace (the kitchen) the female chefs will lift the 80L soup/stock pots as well as lift worktop griddles to clean under them or store away deliveries as fast as men? Guess not because they can't!!
On the other hand, if women do the same work as men, then yes, they should get the same wage.

That took you a whole 5 minutes to find that link & most men would have done it in 2 minutes.
Are you a Brenda or a Brendan?

One obvious example of non-equality - The Wimbledon tennis prize money being the same now despite men having to play 2 sets more than women per match.

How does the same pay for less work help equality?

Thankfully a pay gap doesn't seem to be present that I can see where I work (IT), at least it's not on ground level..

The tennis one always bugged me as men's matches can go on for hours, but a woman's match can be over in less than an hour sometimes. Over a whole tournament that's a massive difference.

Maybe I just don't understand the meaning of equal..

It's not about how hard you work, but more about how smart you work.
I would also say women tennis players should not get paid the same & the reason for that is that men are better at tennis than women are.Usually in sport the best players get the better pay & so can't see how women tennis players get the same.
I'm guessing women golfers will chance it as well oO

I dunno, perhaps your IT skills aren't as good as your soup lifting and griddle cleaning ones. Stick with where your talents lie.

Maybe because they have fiancées who beg for children and promise the world, then turn callous and swan off leaving mums and kids abandoned up crap creek.

But lets not let reality get in the way of your trolling eh.

The point is clear why is it puzzling its prize money not a pay per hour job, its a prize for winning a tournament.

I understand how some "men" feel threatened by women being equal but there is still an issue with women being underpaid in business. It needs to change.

As well as that we need to adjust childcare provision to enable more women to continue working whilst also having kids. It's exactly these high-achieving women who we should be encouraging to have kids.

Weak mean moaning about equality to mask their own flaws really shouldn't be part of the debate.

How is that in any way clear? This is how they earn in tennis. One tournament has a completely different requirement/difficulty to the other, they are not the same. And until recently the prize money reflected that. Suggesting it should be the same is an example of why no one gets feminism, and the message of equality is lost.

You're arguing your point incorrectly. You're treating tennis like any other job when it isn't. It's an attraction so the argument should be based on how many eyes the women bring to the event not how long they're on court for.

It's like a film. An actor may be paid more despite being on screen less. Now if the women generate less interest over those two weeks you may have a point, but you also have to look at the benefit to the event of making prize money equal.

Basically you're looking at it far too simplistically.

I don't believe I am. Any proof that women's tennis generates more money than the men? Id argue it's the opposite if anything.

Anyway my point was just that equal financial rewards just for the sake of it is not actually equal. It dilutes the message.

You don't believe you are yet this is the first time you're referencing the money generated. That's the foundation for any legitimate criticism so focus on that.

Just saying..........................
metro.co.uk/201…46/

I think it is generally perceived that women earn less than men in the same position. I am female and i often earn more than my male colleagues as there is no fixed pay in my profession, just a band difference of about 5k to 10k at each level. Yes, the pay scale can vary that much for the same grade.

I generally get paid more than my colleagues because i negotiate hard when i start a job. I always apply for job at the level above my current level and associated pay. I only move job if i get a promotion and a pay rise.

Employers pay what they can get away with so it all depends on how much they value having you. Women do find it harder to climb the corporate ladder as senior managers tend to be men and they are therefore more likely to be friendly to the men in the office and so when it comes to promotion and opportunities, the men tend to be preferred over the women.

I remember some years ago, i went with a male colleague on business to glasgow for a week and everyone was making snide remarks in the office that we must be having an affair as he chose to take me on business rather than another male colleague working on the same project.

This is is the sort of prejudice that you are faced with when you work in a corporate world mainly dominated by men.
