Ring the citizens advice bureau, or call in, they will be able to give you the best advice on this.

I think that 'Which' have letter templates and advice for this sort of thing.

You waited 6 months for the other half? You're clearly very patient indeed!

Ive had the same thing recently with npower. We changed electricity supplier to scottish power and we got a final bill from npower for over £800 even though it should have been more like £100. I phoned them with the meter readings and they agreed that it was wrong and they would send me a new bill. The next thing i recieved from them was a letter saying they were cutting off my electricity. I phoned and again they said i would receive an ammended bill and to ignore the letter yet the next month i get a letter saying they have passed it onto a debt collection agency. Another phone call later i get told they have put a stop on the account til they sort out my final bill but then i receive bailiff letters! Now ive received a new ammended bill which is even higher than the other one at over £1000 which is just ridiculous. I phoned again and said it was blo*dy ridiculous to which the operator said i was abusive and hung up on me!! Im totally peed off with them and especially seeing as we havent even been with them since march:x

:? And here's me just swapped from NPower to Scottish Power.....is that what I've got to look forward to :w00t:

The chances are the company in question haven't informed the bailiffs that they matter has been resolved. Have you tried contacting the bailiffs and see what they say?

We had a similar thing when we moved into our first house, where the old owner had left all sorts of bills unpaid, and we were gettting allsorts of threatening letters through. I contacted the various companies/energy suppliers and told them the guy no longer lived there, and they said not to worry about it and they would pursue him elsewhere. However, we continued to get the bailiffs letters and did so until I contacted them directly and explained the situation - once they had spoken to the companies they were working on behalf of, the letters stopped.

Hmmm, I'm guessing that you didn't pay the weekly/monthly amount due, in which case you failed to honour your side of the agreement - normally these companies offer 14 days home approval and since that elapsed I'd guess you accepted the items by default,

The fact that the item has now been returned and the subsequent debt may be written off, you'll still appear as someone who has missed credit payments and your credit record reflects this.

However if you never accepted the goods, then it's a different matter entirely, I'm sure someone will enlighten you to the procedure of contacting the company/credit ref agencies and asking for this to be scored off - or at least a comment attached to the disputed amounts.

Best bet is to get in touch with the debt collection agency and mention that this is a disputed amount, this should put a temporary hold on matters, unless it's gone to court already and a judgement made against you,

You need to take the advice offered earlier and get in touch with the mail order company immediately, this matter will not go away and you need to halt this action before intending to take revenge.

Good luck
