How to spot dishonest products/brands on Amazon

ReviewMeta.com analyzes millions of reviews and helps you decide which ones to trust.

Tired of products that don't match the review hype? Visit fakespot.com

Browser Extensions and ios/android apps available as well.

Checking reviews doesn't help these days if they are paid or done by "professional" reviewers, so triple check before you buy.

OK, I walked into that one. My point being that since Amazon has changed its review rules 3rd party sellers have gone underground creating closed review groups giving reviewers money via Paypal to buy "samples" to review. So where as once Amazon had the opportunity but apparently lacked the will to monitor reviews it now makes the task of weeding out fake or dishonest reviews that more difficult. Given that these sellers aren't shy in harassing people who post low ratings on their products and quite often down vote them into oblivion it makes me dubious as to who is behind such a plugin and how they deem a review to be honest or of a genuine purchase or even if there were some ulterior motive behind it.

I'm sure 3rd party sellers would love access to such a plugin to enable them to deem the harshest reviews as fake or to even label the best review of a competitors product as fake to highlight any negative reviews.

To be honest it isn't difficult to spot a fake review all it takes is a quick glance as the reviewers history / profile, and your purchase, especially for a reasonably high value item should not be based on one or two reviews off Amazon anyway.

Huge difference between evidence based cynicism and outright conspiracy.

Don't turn all chem-trail on us.

The biggest problem on Amazon is fakes, the best thing to do is avoid sellers and report them

All I'm going to say is I have nearly 3 years of first hand experience dealing with Amazon 3rd party sellers, and just how uninterested Amazon were at resolving the abuse, hence the sledge hammer reaction of banning such reviews because they just buried their head in the sand.

Meh. If you were a true HUKDer, you'd be part of the problem, not the solution.
I miss the freebies.

the OP should be banned for insinuating reviewers are dishonest, being one myself and knowing hundreds of others, the best and most in depth reviews on pretty much any products are made by us what you'd call 'professional' reviewers.

So are you one of those Vine reviewers? I take no notice of what they write. I scroll through all the Vine reviews to get to reviews of people that paid for the product
