How to stop my Blackberry data abroad?

I have a Blackberry Bold 9000 on Vodafone and has unlimited broadband and Blackberry Internet Services enabled. Great in the UK, can do anything anytime and get all my emails etc. forwarded.

However, I am off abroad shortly to the Middle East. I am pretty sure Vodaone charge £5 minimum daily for even 1k of data, so I can't have that I'll be bankrupt! So
    1) Is there a way to use a blackberry abroad at a reduced cost?

    2) Can you quickly and easily disable all the data service and reenable them on return?

    3) I have wifi on the Blackberry, can it collect all the data services (BIS) when connected to a wifi sgnal? (My friend has wifi in his flat)

Thanks, appreciated there are some tech savvy people here.

It disables pins & emails (data) but phone services calls & sms are still available although you do pay a higher price for texts from abroad

I'm off to New York in a couple of weeks and phoned O2 about it as I was going to have the same problem. If you do what berni suggested then you'll not receive your emails or be able to access the internet through your phone.

I asked about pricing packages for data but it was about £6 for only a few MBs or something and was completely not worth it.

As for the wifi I'm not sure. I might phone them again as I'm curious myself now.

I believe the setting is under settings (spanner icon) mobile network, data services... here you can turn it off

On the wifi point - yes, accessing through wifi gives exactly the same services as if connected to the phone network.

I'm on O2 and travel quite a lot. I subscribe to their blackberry data roam which gives *unlimited* worldwide blackberry data roaming for an additional £23 per month.

I have it on all the time but I think you can do it on a month by month basis.

I've looked at the other networks and can't find anything like it elsewhere.

    Thanks for advice folks

    Hi

Please can you confirm, to stops emails, internet and wifi when overseas, do I switch off BOTH Data Services AND Roaming or just Data Services?

I only want to sms and receive/make calls.

    Thanks
