Before you continue I take no responsibility for any damage caused to your device.

First you must have the International version H60-L04.

Tested on a Honor 6 that has the B109 firmware.

1) Go here hihonor.com/it/…ort and download H60-L04 V100R001C00B109SP01
2) Once completed, create a directory on the root of your internal storage called "dload".
3) Inside the archive you downloaded extract update.APP and put it in the directory you just created.
4) Go to "Settings -> Updates" and click "Local Update".
5) Proceed through this menu and let the phone restart and perform the update.

Once done it will restart and you should be running B109SP01 and if you go to your updates again and check online, there should be an update available for 3.0

My update to 3.0 kept failing. Take out your micro-sd card and try again.

That's nice of rev6 to say so specially as he himself often says in numerous IT threads he can't program jack and is a bit of a moron when it comes to technical matters. I'd say research and seek the help of someone on a specialist forum who knows what they are actually talking about not self confessed noobs. No good ruining it and blaming HUKD forum for the damage as you've been warned from the horse's mouth himself (_;)

That's fine, it's just your opinion. The thread was created to help people.

If you read the OP properly and follow the steps nothing to worry about. You have to be really talented to brick a phone by accident.
Is it worth updating, any new worthwhile features? Someone on an earlier review (poss on xda and maybe the beta version) reported it drained the battery faster.

Battery isn't draining any faster on idle.

Everything has a changed GUI, it looks so much nicer, looks a lot more modern and slicker. I was surprised they changed everything even the more known brands don't give updates like this. They have added customization so you can change the order of the navigation bar (see the screenshot) and you can add a button to open the notification panel.
The recent apps window has been changed completely (not sure if I like it yet) the browser is totally different. The dialer/contacts/messages apps are now all in one. You swipe between them (much better).

I'd upgrade just for the visual improvements it's quite stunning compared to the ugly EMUI 2.3 firmware (and I can't stand the grey navigation bar)

I can't work out if you're joking, why would that be a deal breaker? On an analogue device I'd suggest the fewer connectors the better.
Thanks, are the apps still on the screens or can you stick them in an app folder - and can you order the alphabetically?

The last OTA was Western Europe, do we know if they're rolling our region specific updates or is it just the same update everyone's getting?

Same as everyone. The launcher doesn't have an app drawer everything is on the screens. I use Apex Launcher.
Just to confirm that the above instructions are AOK and that an Amazon UK sourced Honor 6 with EMUI 2.3 was upgraded to EMUI 3.0 successfully. Advice is Don't Do It because the screen is now too small for Ole Fogies. As for the young+ poor religiously hypnotised of Apflings stuck with a cheapo Chinese knock-off, snooting with iFones have never been cheaper.

Btw, HUKD, why the bait with "You don't need an account ...." bit. As we all know, one needs an account in order to comment .....

Text is small I agree.
If you enable screen saver it might help a bit.

how is this phone was thinking of buying before getting the LG G3

For approx. £50 more, the 3GB version of LG G3 is better because EMUI is really an attempt at brainwashing the yippee-iay to be accusomised to Huawei EMUI such that their next purchase will then have to be EMUI based. Talk about brainwashing the wishy-washy.

For all it foibles, Android is OK. This "smartypantyphony" nonsense is all about brainwashing the young & gullible into being addicted to certain habituals. You know, those who know ALL about another/their-relativity but almost nothing about their own reality. The religious and their belief-system/s.

I don't get your comment about EMUI. I think it's a much better attempt at customizing Android compared with other companies.
It's surely not locking me to EMUI devices.

The Honor 6 cost me £140 and for that you just can't beat it.

I have had a few G3s and prefer this. the reason being it's slightly better in the hand. being octacore I'm getting six hours of on screen easily, my g3 churned out half that. I also think the screen is better in terms of colour, though the g3 has qhd. qhd in my eyes is overkill. I had the note 4 and g3 and yeah its nice but murders battery life and is not really that needed.

EMUI 3 is a god send though..... 2.3 was cartoonish to be honest. its better than the overlay in g3 and crapwiz on samsung
