Premier League referee Howard Webb will officiate Saturday's UEFA Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

Two of Europe's finest go head-to-head in Madrid this weekend and the 38-year-old referee has now been entrusted with handling the big occasion.

It is the latest prestigious appointment for Webb, regarded as England's leading referee, following his selection for this summer's World Cup.

Webb has already taken control of six Champions League fixtures this season, including Inter's quarter-final first leg against CSKA Moscow.

Countrymen Michael Mullarkey and Darren Cann will be his assistants at the Santiago Bernabeu with Martin Atkinson the fourth official.

Bayern Munich booked their place in the final after disposing of Lyon while Inter upset Spanish giants Barcelona with a 3-2 aggregate success.

he's actullay one of our better refs to be honest

I would love to see some of their 'critics' have a go at it. Perhaps they'd understand the totally impossible task they face.

He is a our world cup ref as well i think he is usually pretty good

Sorry hes poor, and will be another poor referee we send to the world cup, expect a massive desicion to go horribly wrong, how many blatent penalties did he miss this season.

Should have been Martin Atkinson reffing, instead of being the 4th official, much better than Webb, who will get all the big decisions wrong as he has done all season

I can think of several decisions that explain why you'd think that.

from that lnk there are 3 descision's of his that have been dodgy, hardly several that would make me like him;-) that's not really that bad is it, you do that with other refs and you'll get a hell of a lot more....i stand by what i said, he's one of the best in the country who does a very hard job.

but i can see why you don't like him...let it go it was ages ago now ;-)
