HP Laptop just out of warranty - HDD failure

Ordered a laptop from HP Store, the invoice shows 12/12/07.

The hard drive has failed today, will HP be willing to replace it being so close to the 1 year warranty expiration date?

Dell give you a two week grace period after a warranty expires. Other companies, I don't know. Best way is to call them and ask, and be as nice as you can be.

Ring ]consumerdirect in the morning, my mates xbox failed with something other than the RROD 2 weeks out side of warranty, they helped him get a free replacement.

Just ring HP first...suss out the score

*If* you cannot get any warranty help - and I'm sure you will.....the actual hard drive will most likely have a 3 yr warranty whatever the actual laptop has. Take it out and return to the hard drive manufacturer (it won't be HP) via the appropriate website return procedure. Usually the website for the manufacturer will validate the warranty by the serial number and issue a return number. Unfortunately you will be left with reloading the operating system:?
