    HSBC Debit Card question

Got a Visa debit card linked to a HSBC standard bank account.

Took out some money at an ATM last night (£40) thinking there was enough in the account to cover it, it did give me my money but I've checked my statement this morning and I was £9.35 in debit! (Think that is what the D stands for anyway)

Transferred £100 from my other HSBC account and it seems to have gone in just deducting the £9.35 debit.

I thought it would block me from going overdrawn? Will they charge me for going overdrawn by £9.35 or not? I'm confused now!

Don't you have an arranged overdraft facility? I got charged 12p interest for going overdrawn over christmas. Stupid vicar banking the cheque so late.

If it its like Lloyds, if you pay the money in before 3pm today you should avoid a charge.

no they wont, i always went over drawn by a few quid with hsbc, they only charge if its over £10.

if you have £1.40 (eg) in your account and withdrew £10 it would give you cash and wouldnt get charged for going over

Wish Barclays were like that, I had no money and no food one time and thought I had 10.23 in my account, took £10 out and I was actually 23p overdrawn after taking it out and was given a £45 fine and a rude customer service person saying its all my fault.

    Which it was, of course.

Time to move banks then. That's way OTT for being 23p overdrawn. I suggest you write to them about their crap customer service and ask how they can justify a fine of over 195 times the amount overdrawn!
