No contest - iPhone everytime. However, new one out June/July time, and you won't really get much discount on any apple gear. Personal opinion: Vodafone offer the best deals for most users - unlimited texts etc)

HTC announced the new Desire 3 days ago, and its out in about a months time on O2, T-Mobile, and Vodaphone contract. It is basically the power of the HD2 with the Android OS. I'd wait for this, as it looks pretty damn beautiful, and very fast!

iPhones do keep their value well, which is a good thing for when you want to sell it and buy the HD2 - or better still, the newer HTC out in march with OLED screen.

Failing that, you could buy my 16gb iPhone when I post it in FS in March when I get mine.

I love my iPhone and everyone I know who has one loves theirs too. My only issue is that they are a bit common now.

The desire is just the Google nexus one on HTC's on Brand... Might as well just get this then...almost got the google one from the state...

Yup, in addition to this, the HTC Desire will have 64MB more RAM (576MB vs N1 512MB), will include HTC Sense, and ships with Flash Lite as well as be Flash 10.1 enabled from the get go!

That looks like it'll be my next phone - the interface was the only thing stopping me from getting the Nexus.

OP - you're better off waiting at the moment. I have the HD2 and the iPhone and they're both nice although I use the HD2 day-to-day because I prefer using the larger screen, checking my email and tweets at the same time as listening to Spotify/internet radio.

iPhone's great, but it's looking a little dated and 99% of apps are rubbish.

The HD2 runs on Windows Mobile - which has tons of features (most of which the average user will never use) but can be laggy. I understand the HD2 has a decent processor and is pretty speedy, but WinMo is generally very clunky. HTC have done a good job of hiding it a little with the front end they stick on it though.

That said, for sheer ease of use, go with the iPhone. Doesn't matter what feature you use, what app you buy, it'll be fairly simple, and they always look the same - it's a hyper-intuitive piece of kit. Yeah, thousands of the apps are crap, but better have a marketplace with 300,000 apps with only 10% being good ones, than have a marketplace of 30,000 with 80% good ones.

I love the iPhone, but the real tech geeks out there suggest Android is the way to go - so hold tight for the HTC phone mentioned above - it'll probably be awesome...
