Not as good as Orange San Francisco apart from the camera.

It's alright. Depends on what your gonna use it for. It'll not be long until the san fran fan brigade arrive thou.
No native iplayer support on it which was a let down for me.

Really? So no iPlayer at all then? Thats a shame.

It's the same with the san fran, you can watch tvcatchup mobile and could get iplayer with beebplayer (but that seems to have died with the official iplayer android app)

You can buy the Wildfire for £129 here: phones4u.co.uk/sho…400 (subject to a £10 up though)

All phones from Phones4u come unlocked, so just put your 3 sim card straight in

I have the Wildfire, love it!

How come they have different networks on that link then if they are all unlocked?

I presumed it's best to get a 3 one as the 3 software is loaded on as standard giving free access to windows messenger and skype?

I've got a wildfire and lv it, also got it from fones 4 you on o2 at £129 plus topup,

Alot of people say the screen resolution is poor?

Screen resolution is fine, I was worried about this too when I got it. But its easy to read all webpages and you can zoom in. I like this phone...I have had it for 6m and I really like it, best phone I have ever had

Can you do me a favour? Tell me if iPlayer works?

Is the Android store good and has lots of decent apps?

My other worry is speed and smoothness of going through menus. Also the fact that there's alot of facebook crap you can't get rid of, i.e. when peole ring you it says something about facebook on screen?

I'd check the screen resolution before you actually buy it, I know people say it's fine but it's actually really poor imo. It's the worst i've seen on a smart phone for a long time.

Limited apps that work, don't know about iplayer, not used it. Only says the facebook thing if you are logged into it on friends stream. Screen res not that bad at all....I used to have a nokia 5800 and that was terrible as was the smasung genio slide

I used to have the 5800 and thought the resolution was ok.

What do you mean limited apps that work? Will the Wildfire have new future Android updates?

Ps there is a good Amazon app where you can scan things which I like and of course a HUKDs one that is good, also have a few others too

I too am interested in this, but can't make my mind up because of the conflicting views ppl have.
q - is it a better build quality than the osf .
From the vod and Tmobile offer - which one has less junk on it.

Go into a shop and have a look at one...I did and that made my mind up! Its basically a smaller desire

I can't, nearest phone store is miles away! Ideally I want it on 3 so £159.99 (£12 Quidco) is the best I can do. I know it's £129 + £10 topup on link above, but can't guarantee it's unlocked, and also 3 have their own certificates built into the software to allow their freebies.

I wish they did it in black though, they only have it in white, red, or grey which is the one I'd go for.

I've got a Desire, played on a friends Wildfire and unlocked and set up a San Francisco.

The San Francisco is an absolute bargain at the price they're selling it for.

Wildfire was better made but felt slow and screen was horrible in comparison.

I tend to spend more time looking at the shiny screen than the back though to be honest.

I'm gonna go with the Wildfire. Not debranding a phone only to have a different operators logo on the back for the sake of a tiny improvement on the screen.

i bought this fone from phones 4 you on o2, no logo and was recommended to get 32g memory card and its not been slow, screen res not that bad and have no prob with you tube or other apps, good for the price,

I'm sure you'll love the Wildfire, Android is great.

I came from iPhones and wouldn't go back now.

But I would definitely recommend checking them in store. The San Francisco screen isn't a "tiny" improvement. It's massively better.

And if the logo on the back puts you off scratch it off or buy an unbranded back.

Not so ure about the 'tiny' improvement. I had a Wildfire and San Francisco in front of me this morning. The difference in screen quality is huge. I actually saw the Wildfire a few weeks back when I was looking at getting one, and the screen put me right off. The OSF is higher resolutuion it's worth considering, especially as it's cheaper. Can't see much advantage of the Wildfire.

I would really check them out first.

Original Poster Banned

So is it just the screen thats better then???

Firstly why are you even considering paying more for a locked handset when you can get it cheaper unlocked? Secondly, see this link to compare the san fran and the wildfire -
gsmarena.com/com…391

jaydog69

So is it just the screen thats better then???

There are a few differences, if you go here you can compare the 2 side by side (remember the San Francisco is actually a ZTE Blade)

gsmarena.com/com…337

The OSF has much higher resolution, slightly faster processor and maybe slightly higher internal ram (if specs on site are correct)
The Wildire has better camera and probably better battery life.

At the end of the day it depends what you want from the phone, but I had a chanve to see both and chose the OSF for the superior screen (and trust me, it is vastly better).

The ZTE Racer for half the price actually looks ok....

Half the Ram and poor resolution (same as Wildfire), will run slow and not look too good. Would avoid.

I wouldn't think so. Although the San Francisco isn't the greatest spec phone, it has often been compared to phones costing double what it does. It is a good spec for the price and the closest thing to it is probably the Wildfire.

Search for some reviews and see what they say.

Also look at what is one of the hottest deal on this site:

hotukdeals.com/dea…425

You can't go far wrong with it, or consider the Wildfire if it's features are better suited.

I had to make the choice, and went for the San fran at £89 and GiffGaff at £10/month with 250 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. And thats not even contract, just monthly as long as you want. A good package

It can be unlocked for free, website below. It takes about 2 minutes to do.

orangesanfrancisco.co.uk/and…ee/

If the Orange software bothers you, there are plenty of Roms that can be downloaded, including the stock Rom without the Orange software. This will also give you Android 2.2 if you like. Again, website aboth gives full instructions, easy to do if you follow it step by step.

The logo on the back? well, it is there, about 1cm square. Think I have noticed mine once when I put the battery in. You can hardly notice.

Anyway, it's down to you onviously. But I don't think you're going to find much else for this sort of price.
