Huawei B525 internet speed question...

Hi

I have the above set up with a three SIM and it's working quite well. But when I take the SIM out and put it in phone a I get 14mb download when placed by the b525.

Now when I put the SIM back in the router I only get 1.5mb download??? On the routers wiFi ..

Surely it should not drop so much?

I have the 2 mini external antenna fitted that screw in the back btw

Go into Settings / System / Antenna Settings and change it to external then click apply
Thanks done that and it's the same. So confused surely I should get the same speed?
Are you sure they're on the same tower? For example here the local tower is 3G but there's a 4G tower further away. If you connect to the 4G tower the speed drops because the signal is much more tenuous.

Also have you tried rotating the router? Ours get a much stronger signal with the flat side towards the tower, although not a tenfold difference in speed.
Download the app called Open signal from the playstore / itunes

play.google.com/sto…_GB
apps.apple.com/us/…030

click on the location icon in the app, then click on view network stats, this should give you a list of what the best speeds users are getting on all the networks in your area.

If Vodafone are listed as having good speeds then I would suggest you get a voxi sim

voxi.co.uk/plans

Order a free sim and choose the £10 for 6gb option as it's the cheapest tariff, because Vodafone are working on the network at the moment they are unable to monitor internet usage and you will get unlimited internet

I am getting 20mb down and 5mb up with the 3 network (smarty) but a ridiculous 150 down and 47 up with Voxi at non peak times and has never ever been less than 95mb down at any time.

I use analiti to measure the speed as I found it the most reliable

play.google.com/sto…_GB

As for the external antennas I purchased some and found the signal was better using the internal antenna instead.

let us know how you get on.

It's correct in the order of worst so is helpful. Ee is the best actually 100+mb then bt 60+mb in my area. Vodafone haven't tried and three haven't tried. O2 is 8mb so I agree with the app in terms of being the at the bottom. My brother had three and said it was not good so thanks for that was very helpful as I was going to try three for wifi, I think I've seen this somewhere, dragons den. Or something similar to help people decide but was turned down as not enough users. Maybe a similar app.
