Because its outside you could use Nitromors (think thats how its spelt) that is the best paint stripper - a methylene chloride based one, although there are more user/environmently friendlier alternatives BUT they do not compare in effectiveness (sorry about spelling mistakes)

Thanks, i just searched ebay for "nitromors" and it came up with a few results

    250ML for £8...

I would use caustic soda - but you need to be very very careful, always add the caustic soda to the water not the other way round and use protective gloves and a mask. Use a scrubbing brush, leave it on for about 10 minutes, scrub it again and then hose it off. No use if you have plants nearby as they will die! Good luck.

try searching for industrial paint stripper:)

depending on the type of paint and how bonded it is you can get suprisingly good results using a pressure washer

    What type of stone?

Best not to use a heatgun as some masonry will spit bits off :!:

I have another question, im geting new windows (PVC) put in, is it best to paint the stone FIRST or after?

Im thinking of taking all the paint off first, get windows put in then paint the stone after.

    Cheers
    Jerry

The guy over the road painted the front of his house, just finished when the heavens opened.

I felt so sorry for him as it all washed off and left a right old mess of the bricks.

As said try a pressure washer but I don't think you will ever get it back to the stone all over. There will be stubborn bits and patchiness but it's worth a try.

    how unlucky

Just scrape and sand it if it's getting repainted, paint after the windows go in.

Take pictures of all the windows before the work is done, lazy fitters have a habit of smashing the old frames out and cracking the masonry.
