HUKD Members...Help me choose a HDTV!?

I've found two LCDs which i'm interested in

    Toshiba Regza 32AV505D - £350ish
    &
    LG 32LG3000 - £380ish

Not sure which one to get, LG has an an s-video which i can connect my laptop too, but the toshiba has a higher contrast ratio of 20000:1 where as LG has 15000:1

    Can someone help me choose?
    Thank you

To be honest, I wouldn't take too much notice of reviews. Its your eyes that need to be satisfied, not theirs. The best advice anyone could give is to go and view and purchase on their merits of features, picture quality and what you actually need from the TV.

I did have a scout through to see if I could find anything that would be useful, but alas not really much to give! However, this is a list of te Toshiba set youve chosen to compare. Personally, I would probably sway towards the Toshiba if I was a single choice between these two - purely because of the contrast. You could always buy a s-video to scart converter if that really is a big issue. (Though dont expect it to be a good quality picture with S-Video)

But what connections do you have available on your set? I would imagine to be "brilliant" you must be talking about using either HDMI or the VGA socket?

I use HDMI on the kids TVs and my Plasma via an HTPC, but I cant honestly say its fantastic. Good yes, but not a real substitute for a proper monitor. Movies etc will be fine, but for word processing and things like that, its not the best.

I was gonna say the same thing. I have yet to see a really good diaplay from a laptop on the TV. In fact, any time I've tried it it has been pretty poor. But don't have a HD TV yet so maybe I'm in for a surprise...

I have the 37 inch Toshiba Regza and it's a good looking thing with all the spec's that i want I had a LG plasma and to be frank it was ****!
