We are looking for 80 – 100 Beta testers.

We are very keen to recruit drivers who would like to take a Rasa on test for a 1 to 3 month period.

We are interested in anybody who has a clean driving licence and who tends to use their car for local journeys..

Bit of a pain if you get a flat tyre on that thing isn't it?
Looks like they are looking for customers rather than testers, there is a charge.
Our plan is never to sell a car. When we come to market, we will be offering customers the Rasa on a service contract, a bit like a mobile phone. A customer will typically sign up for a contract of 1 – 3 years, and pay a monthly direct debit which comprises a fixed cost for the car + a charge relating to mileage. Riversimple pays for all the hydrogen, insurance and all maintenance, tyres, etc.

We want to test our pricing structure for the service and the billing system. When we come to market, we are aiming to offer the service at an equivalent price to the total cost of ownership per month of a new car like a VW Golf or Ford Focus. Pricing for the trial is not yet decided but there will be some costs to bear.

Yeah that doesn't sound like good business sense, if you get a golf for the same price you can go on motorways which you can't with this thing and you haven't got the restrictions on the refueling points, so this is just a quirky scheme similar to a car share business only doesn't make as much sense

They are paying for the fuel though. So it could work.

Doesn't that depend on what they mean by total cost of ownership of a new car like a golf, total to me would include an estimate of avarage fuel costs.

That is possible. They don't really have enough detail to know either way. It would be pointless if it cost the exact same as any other car.

But businesses would be stupid to provide everything for the monthly cost of just a car on the cheapest monthly, its normal to charge as much as you think you can get away with especially if you know you got a limited market

I didn't understand the first sentence there?

A company will in theory charge what they can get away with yes, but by the look of this company they know the weaknesses of their product so have to offer other incentives to sell it. One cost to cover the car, tax, fuel etc could be an incentive to some people if it works out cheaper overall.

Well a quick Google shows they've been floating this idea since 2009 with the rental said then to be about 200 a month

That refuelling point in Abergavenny is going to take a hammering if this scheme takes off nationally. An opportunity there for Hari' or someone else to open up a pop-up Laverbread and Cockles shop for the queuing motorists.

200 a month is really cheap. If they are including fuel in that it is even cheaper.

Yeah but that was years ago, its on the companies wiki page, think it said the lease on the car would be 10 years too
Why is this being pimped in Misc?

There are charges and therefore should be in the deals section.
Wow that's fugly! At least make it look decent and have at least 4 seats. The range is good for a tiny amount of fuel though.
