I am being scammed as we speak on this site

Found 23rd Dec 2016
Is there anyone who can help me. The sales thread is here.

hotukdeals.com/for…612

The buyer is saying I damaged the pc so I could return it which isnt the case.

Is there anyway I can get a date of when my pictures were taken when his was etc to prove him a liar. He is being really crafty and I want to make sure I show him to be the fraud he is.

How did you pay for it?

If they where taken on a digital camera cant you look at the properties of the photos in your pc to see ehen they were taken.

Problem with that is, the metadata of photos can easily be manipulated and changed.

Ah, what a surprise. 0zone. He was an absolute helmet in the trading flamdeer thread and basically shafted people by trying his luck. Not a very nice character at all and I completely believe your version of events.

Hope he is exposed and banned.

I paid by paypal but he is being very clever. I decided to go through paypal for a refund, as I didnt trust him. He has contacted them sending pictures saying I damaged the pc.

Just send your photos from your digital camera/phone. PayPal have a good protection policy.

If taken via mobile you can connect it to your PC and it should show times onece uploaded to p.c.

I will do but and I am 95% sure they will side with me but I would still like to try and expose this fraud.

His allegations are bonkers why would someone damage the external on a laptop for a refund.

It's clearly not the same laptop. One has a green logo and one has a red logo. So either its had parts swapped or is a totally different laptop.

Who is scamming who I'm not sure.

I can do this if required. I took them not long after it was delivered. I was hoping we would be able to get the time and date as to when he took his pictures.

I don't know why people are commenting with this... It is clearly the Microsoft Holographic logo!

Qont prove anything. The metadata on photos is so easily changed, it doesn't mean anything.

Description says has accidental damage.... ?? what about that

Not really looked fully into this but why were his pictures of the laptop black but then it's changed to silver? Not sure if I've missed something here.

The extended warranty includes accidental damage.

The damage doesn't look fresh. The laptop just looks used. Would take a bit of work to get that effect to it. People are paid quite well for givings things the upcycled/stressed look

Changed mind before it was even delivered, now says it's damaged. Nightmare of a buyer who'll happily open a not as described case in paypal and then damage it to suit. I've proven it wasn't the case, so PayPal will make a decision.
Merry Christmas...

As above, you may be able to get details of when the photo was taken on your pc. In future, you can download camera apps in which you can take time stamped photos. One such app i use is called Camera360

Anyone noticed the name of the image of the laptop he provided?

Yes, I bought my SurfaceBook in August. The laptop has remained unused in it's box since then. I'm not the kind of person to spent £1500 on a laptop and then treat it with no respect.

I have never known such a dishonest guy. I would be interested to see his feedback elsewhere. Cant imagine this his is first rodeo.

gotta love how people automatically know it's the seller at fault, based on limited information here.

The laptop is black on the inside, silver on the outside.

On his low quality images, you can see scratches and the hairline crack on the corner of the laptop.

But why would he have a picture of the corner of the laptop after he sent it out?. Seems quite strange.

Maybe had 2 of these and still has 1 of them, which he's now deciding to take pictures of his remaining good condition one.

I don't know you, but i don't believe anyone would create damage just to get a return on it. I mean some of the damage looks like real wear and tear over some time!. Such as worn down pain where the crack is.

Why not come to an agreement with the seller, let the seller offer it for sale again, as i see others are interested in this. Offer it £10 more than you paid to cover your postage and you can ship it directly to the new buyer. If not then i think the buyer should just accept the item back, the evidence is not in his favour.

There's also a lower model which is orange on the outside.

I wasn't accusing you of anything, it just seemed to me like the photos were ones from right before sending the item so I wanted to point out that they werent

The guy is completely unreasonable. Demanded a refund while it was still in transit because it was one extra working day. Paid me on thursday morning at 8.36am and complained that I had not dispatched it by lunch time. . He knows that a significantly not as described case has more weight than a request to return it. He can fabricate as much "damage" as he likes, it will not help as I have proof of it's condition. I also have proof of the warranty, and proof of the accidental damage cover still in place until November next year.

What a jerk to deal with, right before Christmas too. There you go, always someone out there playing the system. The sad part is he'll probably get away with it.

It proves the images aren't recent though. They were taken 4 months ago - plenty of time to cause scrapes and scratches, no?
