I am finally getting my interim payment!

Found 25th Nov 2008
Great news, some of you may remember me posting about having an accident (it acctually happened on 12th November 2007) and i've finally got something out of it, I got the best phone call of my life so far and i'll be recieving a £10,000 check with my name on it within 2-3 weeks

I am not really sure what to do with the money, I owe my dad around £4,000 and I owe my girlfriend a lovely meal out but apart from that I have no ideas!

I'm also going to be very carefull about spending it, i'm not really sure when the big payment will come through (which my solicitor thinks will be £50,000+) so I don't just want to blow it all in 2 weeks.

I was hit in the side by a Ford Galaxy while I was riding my motorbike. I broke my thigh, dislocated/crushed my foot, and did something strange to my shoulder that causes my shoulder blade to "wing" when I extend my arms. I'm still suffering from drop foot and my foot is very out of shape, it hurts my knee a lot to walk (which I think is caused by basically walking on the side of my foot it's so out of shape)

I went to court and he was charged with driving without due care & attention - he also had no insurance, no license and only spoke chinese.

My solicitor also informed me that the court decided it was 100% his fault so I only really have to wait and see what is gonna happen with my foot before the ammount of compensation can be decided.

Enjoy the money you deserve it, :thumbsup:though it wont change what happened to you, sounds very traumatic.:w00t:

Ouch well the money wont take away the injurys
but thats a nice thing to get right on top of xmas enjoy

yeah.......sounds like you deserve more than 60K !!!!!!

who pays the compensation...he wasn't insured.....i presume your insurers persued a private liable case ?

So, after your 4k, and the meal, youll be left with like 5975 ( meal = pizza hut ! )

i'd buy some things youve always wanted, or do some things youve always wanted to do...i bought a decent SLR camera and lenses from a similar payout........

then, when the big lump comes in, bank it, save it, pay your morgage off, invest it in some way, buy premium bonds.....and, when you need it, you'll have it !.

ive seen so many people get big payouts, and blow it all on fast cars and fast women.........don't follow the trend !

I've already got a lovely woman and a little corsa, I won't be splashing out on either :P

I'm only 19 and i'm living in a flat with my girl friend (she is studying at uni) so the mortgage isn't a problem, i'll probably just save the majority of the lump sum towards a house when we decide to move out (most likely after her 3 year course finishes)

There is nothing wrong with pizza hut!

Just after my accident my dad gave me £1,000 (part of the £4,000 I owe him) so I could buy some stuff to keep me entertained during the months in bed so there isn't really anything I really really want, I might treat myself to a better tv/broadband package :P

The MIB are handling my case, I believe each insurance company pays a little bit into them so that people hit by uninsured drivers are sort of covered? I'm not 100% sure though.

Hollyoaks later about to start, back in an hour xD

treat you and your family to a nice meal out, way of saying thanks to your dad as well, sounds like a nasty accident, but at least you are here to tell the story

enjoy the money and sorry for the injuries, and hope in time you heal fully

x

if i can give you one bit last bit of advice ......take a tenner of your 50k and send a card to everyone that helped you...I.e hospital staff, insurers, DAD, and the rest...

You won't belive how far a nice thank you card will go !!!!!

Oh, and enjoy it !!!!!!!
