    i cant believe some people!!!!!!

my 14yr old son went for a school trip today with school to alton towers and was due home around 7-7.30 as i dont have a car at the mo my son told me his mates dad was collecting them both from the school car park and dropping him of at home

so i waited till 8.15 and no sign of my son so i phoned my sons friends mother and asked if she had collected my son she said that her son and my son were on different coaches and she had waited a while for my sons bus but it hadnt come so she came home i said but i thought u were collecting him she said yes but we did wait but no sign of coach so i said to her well i havent got a car or anything even if he had walked home he would of been home by now (20 min walk) i will have to get his dad to come over and look 4 him and she just said oh dear!!!

so i had been pacing the streets with his dad driving around luckily he found my son at the bus stop where he had been waiting for an hour,

i just cant believe they could drive of and leave because my sons bus didnt arrive within minutes and even if they did she had my no why couldnt they have phoned me and said they were sick of waiting and could someone else collect him. my son didnt get home till 8.50

and i have been sat here thinking she hasnt even phoned me back to see if i had found my son for all she knows he could be lying in a ditch somewhere!!

am i overreacting here or would u feel the same?

You're not having much luck these days with your friends...

    hotukdeals.com/ite…ng/

Totally understand your anger it is quite unbelievable that somebody could do that glad you found him anyway.

He's 14 he's a big boy now, but i do agree a little wrong on your friends behalf

no i dont think you are over reacting, as you said she could have at least caled you...how would she fee if you had did the same with her son

No your not over reacting. I would have gone nuts as you never know what or whos about.
    Glad hes ok though.

Why is there always a smart **** remark in every single thread gone are the old days when it was decent helpful people on here.

    disgusting!!!

he's 14 so I think your over reacting just a tad, if he was under 10 then maybe but the kid will be able to get married and join the army in 2 years time so it might be time to loosen the strings a bit or get him a mobile

I would be pretty mad myself, thankfully my daughters group of friends have always stuck together and this wouldnt happen, she also has a mobile so again this would never happen, it seems to me like your better off without these so called friends, glad hes home safe and well

Poor show from your sons mate's parents. No over reaction at all. Sadly, in todays world if you want a job done properly always do it yourself. Thoughtless, selfish behaivour as far as I am concerned.

no but I was 14 once and I managed to survive just fine. I even used to go shoppng etc myself at that age.
Not having a go but 14 is just on the cusp of being an adult and at that age I doubt my mum or dad would've been out patrolling the streets if my lift somewhere hadnt turned up.

maybe your friend had younger kids to care for? maybe they had to be somewhere? maybe they didnt have a mobile? or maybe they do this for you a lot and are fed up with it.

who was meant to collect yr son? mates dad or yr mum?

That confused me as well :?

I'd be fuming too, what a cheek, and not even bothered to see if your son is okay. You're perfectly entitled to be annoyed!

I have a 19 year old son that I still worry about, its perfectly natural in my opinion, if it was my 14 year old I would have felt exactly the same x

    well we are all different

how could i live with myself if my son was unsafe and i was sat at home with my feet up thinking oh well he is nearly an adult

he will always be my child and i will prob still pick him up when he is 18 coz i can rest better knowing he is safe by the way he is not 14 till next month

If a 14 year old child is expecting to be dropped off back to his mother by his friend's parent then that is exactly what should happen. No if's or buts. You can juggle the situation around as much as you want, but this is a child that has been put into a situation that was not what he expected, by an adult. Any normal 14 year old should be protected by any normal adult under the circumstances. If this 14 year old is normal, then it stands to reason that the adult/s concerned is/are abnormal.

If that was aimed at me i wasn't being a smart **** i was making a point. A 14 year old should be able to make his own way home as he tried to do when he was waiting for the bus. My lil bro is 14 and gets to and from school by himself, thinking about it from the age of 13 i had to travel to and from camden for school and that was an hours travel away.

But i do argree with the fact that its wrong to say youre picking someone up and dont cos that just leaves the kid no idea whats going on so very unfair

    how is your son feeling?

why didn't he use his mobile - surely this is why he has got one?

no, it never ceases to amaze me how thoughtless some people are, even with kids.

so he's 13, even still he should have enough wits about him to get home without a search party being called.

By loosening the string a little you'd be helping him get wordly wise so that when he does eventually fly the nest he won't be like a dear caught in the headlights and be eaten alive.

Thankfully my mum let me be independent enough so that I learned the ways of the world and don't poke myself in the eye with a spork when I leave the house.

again not having a go just giving you a reasoning behind why I think you slightly over reacted and as you say we are all different.

he stayed at his dads house last night so his dad could drop him of early in the morn 4 the school trip so he forgot his phone charger

just sounds like it all went wrong but it ended well.

just talk over with him again all the senaros he could find himself in and ask him what he could do.

don't do this tonight, you need to cool down (with the help of HUKDers) he is tired and maybe shaken/confused. leave your chat to next week.

why did the teachers ****** off and leave him? surely they are responsible until he is handed over? ! ?

no they arent, you sign the form that once they are back on school property it is down to you, although weird that the child didnt go to a teacher, although no doubt he thought the other person would be there soon

    i would have gone mad

    on a lighter note

glad he is home and safe:thumbsup:

    just what I was thinking!

I'm glad you found him. The parent's of the other child are very inconsiderate, how would they have felt if the situation were the other way round.
