Phone Locked to Vodafone and they refuse to unlock it.

Sounds a bit confusing. I presume talk talk is whom the phone was locked and bought from originally. If it was a contract phone then the original purchaser must unlock it.

eBay sellers offering codes around £10.

I think the phone was locked to Vodafone, but OP used a TalkTalk sim which piggybacks the Vodafone network.

Do you know anyone with a Voda SIM you can borrow?

Or buy one from Tesco, etc. for a quid. Put that in it, then they would do it? (Seems a bit of a lame excuse for them to not unlock it. Perhaps mentions OFCOM next time you talk to them?)

I believe there's a free but slightly fiddly way to do it. As it's running Windows phone I think you can download the windows phone developer sdk for free and I'm sure allows you to unlock upto five devices. Can't guarantee it would work but if you try at least it hasn't cost anything.

Any PAYG/contract sim that has 30 days/3 months use can request FREE unlock
