What you upgrading from? I used the RC version on my netbook and the full version on a proper system, Windows 7 is the best Windows yet. That said, on a decent spec PC it really isn't that different to Vista, on a low spec machine it is still slower than XP. I'm only installing the copy on my main PC till I have decided if it is worth paying out for on my media centers and portables.

Thought so, but could just as easily been some pithy Linux or Mac user needing put in their place

Oh and black gerbil1, if your computer is decent specs, particularly if you use for gaming, then Windows 7 is the way to go. When I set up Vista on my main machine about 18 months ago, I set it dual boot with XP. I was worried about compatibility with Vista 64 after the media backlash, but haven't booted XP for over a year now. Pretty much everything works with Vista / 7 these days so I won't be dual booting when I format this time.

Because it is the first sign of the delivery of retail copies that many of us have ordered. I know I have waited to format my main system till I have everything in hand as I don't want to install a activation work around. Not worth installing with an activation countdown as the key may not be the exact version match for the version installed and that would mean formatting again.

I didn't mean installing a crack or countdown reset... its been RTMd and from past deals, it seemed a lot of people on here had either MSDN or Technet subscriptions etc.

Hi, where is the best place to get this without downloading it? i downloaded a version a couple of months ago but never installed was too scared in case it ruined my lappy/hard drive lol.

They canceled the MSDN / Technet subscription loop hole that was popular on here well before the Win 7 final codes were available. To my knowledge most people on here don't have subscriptions and even if you do they are for testing use only :whistling:

There are very good OEM bios emulation installs for cracked versions, basically it works from the Dell or similar type volume license install. If you install the right version of Windows on a PC that has the correct OEM identification then it will always validate fine. In reality this is just as illegal as misusing the MSDN / Technet subscriptions.

Personally I think this is a fair priced product at around £50 for a retail version. If you can afford a PC to run it on then really you can afford the OS too, but obviously not everyone thinks like that.

I was typing on my mobile

Could anyone answer a silly question...

I have a genuine copy of office 2007 but I have used all the licences, so if I was to upgrade to Windows 7 would I have to buy another copy of office?

Fair enough if it was £50 for the top package. You cannot even get the bottom package for £50 anymore and when you have 15 computers and 1 copy or having to pay for it 15 times it's a bit dear, when you have already spent money on 15 computers and 15 operating systems previously
