I just fancy a bit of a rant

Got made redundant in September and have spent the last 9 months appliying for every job that i can, online, from the paper, job centre and in shop windows, have had a couple of interviews but compared to how many jobs i have applied for, its not that many.

Well as there are so many people become unemployed u can understand that loads of people will apply for the same jobs. My rant is that out of the last 20 jobs i have applied for i have had 1 reply to say sorry, im just getting so frustrated that u get no response. Maybe I should set up my own company offering a letter writing service for all those companies that cannot be bothered to reply to you.

Anyway rant over, bit the bullett saturday and applied for maccy d's otherwise xmas would have to be cancelled for DD and guess what i got an interview lol

    Thanks but no thanks

awwww i feel for you... thats the one thing i hate is when they dont reply even to say sorry and you're sat around waiting... hope you find a job soon x

Awww nessynoo01, my heart goes out to you. I have a friend who is really struggling to find work atm too, it can be really disheartening but dont let it grind you down!

I agree it would be really nice if you at least got a reply, they just dont care enough to that. Anyways, wishing you all the best with your job hunting and interviews.

I know you were joking, but why not consider doing something yourself, worth a shot!

Yeap rant away - I hate that too - and I hated it after the first interview I ever went for - because I didn't hear anything.

Good luck for the Maccy D interview - sometimes it's easier getting a foot in the door to other interviews when you have any old other job!

Sounds like you are really trying hard and doing the right stuff.

Same happened to me back in 2003, so I got my name down at a temping agency and managed to pick up a few short term contracts to keep me ticking over. Like your self I kept applying and not getting replies, but in 2004 I was fortunate to get another job, which I am still in, and part of it is to interview people for vacancies, and yes, I always reply to everyone who has taken the time to apply, as I know just how soul destroying it is not to get a reply.
Keep your chin up, and one day the right job for you will come along - good luck

Im with loads of agencies and they keep offering me temp work for a couple of weeks but tbh its just not worth it for me as the benefits i get currently just make it so difficult having to change them each time .

Thanx all i was just on job centre and got so fed up and thought it was rant time lol

Ahh I was going to recommend trying an agency, unfortunately they are a necessary evil in todays market

Where, roughly in the country do you live nessy? Someone on here may have some inside knowledge to further your career

A job is a job, it'll put food on the table etc.

Glad too see somebody making an effort unlike half the country. Makes me laugh that people turn their nose up at working in certain places, I'm sure if they were in the same situation they'd gladly take anything offered.

    Good luck with the interview!

This government website is actually quite helpful direct.gov.uk/en/…htm

Oh by the way, careworkers are always in demand, not the best of hours, but the pay is decent enough

I know exactly how you feel op, I was made redundant back in August and have had no luck, was originally looking part time due to childcare restrictions but now looking for full time if I can, will just have to miss out on my kids and pay loads of childcare, but with the current market I haven't had an interview since November.

wish you luck ness finding a job that you will enjoy - i really think you shouldnt just take any job as you will be so unhappy and you and kids will suffer

we are finding out tomorrow whether o/h is getting made redundant - he is totally stressed out about it - never been out of work - dont even know how to claim benefits - lol --

but thanks to sculpterus re care working - o/h will do that - he will do anything - as you say lots of jobs in that sector - especially in this area

chin up! i have been looking since january and have applied for one hell of a lot of jobs, i hardly hear back from any of them. As it happens though i have just come back from an interview.

    Things will pick up though!
