How much do you weigh and what is your height?

Is this a new product from Apple?

Damnit, about 5 minutes too late in making this joke.

BMI is useless. If you have muscle it says you're overweight.

    i dont! i have lard

    Not sure about this. Process is described as follows;

When calories exceed demand, the extra calories are stored as fat inside the Adipocyte fat cell. The fat contents are stored as semi-liquid inclusion in the cytosol of each cell. The i-Lipo emits low levels of laser energy, the fat cell membranes are disrupted releasing intra-celluar fat. This causes the cell to lose its round shape by changing the permeability of the cell membrane. This does not affect the neighbouring structure such as skin, blood vessels and peripheral nerves.

OK. My concern would be this - How does the laser target only fat cells and no others? If other cells were destroyed too, how would you know? I wouldn't like to think that the tiny capillaries were being killed off for example.

Triglycerides spill out from the broken cell membranes and are released into the interstitial space where they are slowly transported through the body's natural metabolic functions, with no adverse physiological effects and are used by the body as an energy source. This mechanism of action is not 'liquefaction of fat' rather, it is the instant breakdown of the fat cells also referred to as lypolysis

I have a real problem with this bit because the reason that the fat is stored in the body in the first place is that it is surplus to the body's energy requirements. Releasing it into the interstitial fluid will cause it to be collected by the lymphatic system and returned into the blood stream where it may be used as an energy source but is more likely just to be laid down as fat again!

Interesting idea but if I were you I'd ask my doctor before spending my cash.

This whole BMI thing irritates me. My son got a letter form nursery saying he was overweight, because they did the BMI thing. He fits normal clothes for his age, and is fit and active, he is a tiny bit under height (daddy is a short **** too), but I got very upset about him being told he was fat. The HV said he was clearly quite muscley - he did take his time showing everyone his 'guns', and he can do upwards of 20 pressups and situps at a time (PROPERLY!!) (I have never been able to do a pressup!) So he's fit and active, and super strong - NOT FAT. Sorry to hijack the thread, but it got me so angry.

Ah but pennys son is only in nursery lmao!

hee-hee. Yup, he's nearly four! He is scarily strong though. Shifts the sofa to plug the hoover in for me and drags the coffee table about so I can get under it. Shame the hoover's a bit big for him to push round... I'm sure he'd do that too!

Lol my little boy who is 7 asks to do the hoovering, its so funny as hes only short so its as tall as him! I let him and give him some money for it, as I think its good that he is willing to do chores!

BMI is flawed big time, a mate of mine is an olympic level athlete and according to her BMI she is obese, hardly considering she has the perfect figure for a triathlete.

LOL I don't make him do it!! He watches Sportacus and is trying desperately to do the one armed pressups where he flips himself up in the air. I don't think my lightfittings can cope with that.

What is it? Sign me up I want everything nipped and tucked after this … What is it? Sign me up I want everything nipped and tucked after this one, my child baring days are over and I want it all back ready for my 30th next yr (_;)

it was my 30th on friday.....and just like u, done the kids in my twenties and wana look fierce in my 30s! joined the gym again, got a personal trainer (although not a proper one...FF give u 3 sessions with one for 40quid which u get the 40quid back if u go 8 times in 6 weeks or something) and my bro was telling me about ilipo youtube.com/wat…JuM its non invasive , but need to know if any good!

Oh, just thought of another thing.

Triglycerides spill out from the broken cell membranes and are released into the interstitial space where they are slowly transported through the body's natural metabolic functions,

When the triglycerides end up in the bloodstream (the only way they can be metabolised) you'll suddenly have a huge increase in the fats in the blood vessels. This is crazy because it'll increase your cholesterol level and increase the rate of fatty deposits forming inside your blood vessels!

Unless you can be assured (and by someone independent, not by the folk selling this product) that the fat content of your blood is not going to end up sky high don't touch this.

Magicbeans, I know you might be tempted by something that seems to offer a quick fix but think about it.

If it was as good as they say, everybody would know about it and be having it done and you'd have no trouble finding someone that had had it done.

Stick with the exercise - it'll take a bit longer but you'll get fit at the same time.
