I need a new PC before this ones dies

Looking to treat myself to a new PC, before this one dies completely., darent switch it off.

Have been looking @ the dells as they seem good deals including TFT Monitors.

    Looked at this

But doesnt this just have a bigger monitor, but a slower speed compared to the other Dells. 1.8ghz(intel) seems v slow compared to what the amds offer

    Any advice?

Also are there any of those Discount 10% or 20% Discount Codes around. I checked vouchers but they all refer to XPS Machines :x

Do not worry about speed in ghz, if it says it's a Core 2 Duo then you have the best of it. Also when choosing it is best to opt for the Vista Home Premium over the Basic package, it is just a few £'s more and worth every penny.

Dell delivery depends what you order - more customisation = longer wait time.
Can be as quick as a day or two if going for everything as default choice.

As beerman said core 2 duo is the fastest on the market (the conroe version is the one you want not the allendale with the lesser cache) - short of c2d EE or core 2 quadro.
The 9200 range is worth looking at.. only a few pounds over budget and come with core 2 duo 2 gig RAM and 20" monitor as default.

I order many Dell Pcs for my workplace and fine that generally they deliver in 10 - 14 days at the most, if that helps?

I order a lot of DELLS and they are over-priced! We've just gone into a collective bargaining agreement and they knocked £130 off the price :-)

Hopefully they will sell them to staff at these prices too!

    What does that mean?

My work have dells, last year they hada scheme where PCs were cheaper for Staff to buy but ifound out, whatever government iniative was subsidising thedifference, has been knocked on the head by mr brown.

If they are over-priced what do u recommend. am not sure building a same spec machine would be any cheaper?
