I need new rock music to listen to...recommend a band/song to me please.

    Hi

New rock music needed to listen to for a guy whose musical tastes are a bit stuck in the 90's. What new-ish bands would you recommend for someone who listens to Metallica, Therapy?, Iron Maiden, Wildhearts, Linkin Park, Megadeth, Anthrax, Foo Fighters, Cure, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Manic Street Preachers, Nickelback, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Biffy Clyro, Muse, Papa Roach, QOTSA, Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc.

Just turned 40 & need some new stuff to listen to...

    One Direction!

I've been feeling the same way myself recently. It's lead to me falling pretty much in love with the Arctic Monkey's debut album (late to the party, I know, but goddamn is it reassuringly excellent). That and Journal For Plague Lovers have been pretty much heaviest in rotation on my MP3 player recently. And it's not new, but Motorhead's 1914 is constant brilliance, and if you don't already have it, I seriously recommend it.

Man, you never miss a chance to put an affiliate link on, do you?

Metallica are writing this year so hopefully should get the new album by the end of the year/

In the meantime, I would suggest Velvet Revolver, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Airbourne, Black Tide, and Deftones.

I could list a load more but that should set you off!

Black Stone Cherry are an awesome band, saw them recently and they do not disappoint live either, give them a go I promise you will not be disappointed.

Can't believe I forgot about Spacemen 3 (and Spiritualized) - not exactly 'new' but it's easy to have missed these two - Jason Pierce is awesome - but I've been a fan of these since way back - and if yer going for a full house - Sonic Boom - but that incarnation is a bit more trippy rather than rocky. Butt they are good.

And of all them bands you listed therapy70, I bet they all list 13th Floor Elevators as an influence - one of my fave bands - might not be what you're after but if you wanna get into 1960's psychedelia and garage drop me a PM and I can point you in the right direction. That's my fave music and got a fair old backlog of stuff and knowledge.

I love music - you prob guessed by my deal posts - my fave topic is sitting around having a drink and smoke and listening to music and talking about it.

Anyways, let us know in thread anyway what you thought of Spacemen 3 etc.

    Four Year Strong
I can't stop listening to them recently

    also try
    Twin Atlantic
    Zebrahead
    Army of Freshmen

The drum teacher at my school was the drummer from Therapy?. Unfortunately my brother was the drummer, I learnt guitar...

OH NOES ... not a mid life crisis.....

.... I think you have plenty to be going on with in your original play list, although you seem to be missing some older stuff. Where is the Hendrix????

Oh and the AW advice - you can get patches for some sorts of smoking, not all though.
