I need some help from the techies on here!!

    Hi all

I'm still in the process of buying a new laptop. I've been searching around for a while now and I have finally decided on the model I am going to go for. Problem is that the smae model is offered by two different companies at slightly different costs but with slightly different specs. I've attached the links and I shall tell you the differences, I just need your advice to choose which one.

I am going for the Acer Aspire 5633WLMI

PC World - It's £599 from there and has 1 year warranty and 224MB Intel GMA 950 Shared Graphics

Tesco's - It's £649 but comes with a free 3 year warranty and NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7300 with up to 256 MB of TurboCache (128 MB of dedicated GDDR2 VRAM; up to 128 MB of shared system memory)

Does anyone know if Tesco's do a price match?

Also does this type of thing happen often, two laptops with the same product code but slightly different specs?

I know I can get quidco on both of the companies and I believe there may be a 5% code doing the rounds for PC World and Clubcard points at Tesco.

Anyway, over to the techy people to give me advice on which to go for. Looking to buy in the next day or so.

    Thanks in advance
    Ricky

Hmm, the PC World one claims to have an HD DVD drive which is surely utter nonsense! I'd definitely be more inclined towards the Tesco model with the GeForce. Though really it depends what you're using it for as the GeForce card will almost certainly drain the battery faster.

I agree the model number is a bit of a taboo issue.

I'm thinking the 3 year warranty on the Tesco one could be useful as well

Absolutely, the extended warranty is worth loads more than the price difference between the two - so technically you could say you got the graphic card for free

The three year warranty alone is well worth the extra £50, and the inclusion of the Geforce graphics card clinches it for me. Go for the Tesco model.

Bought the one from Tesco's last night.

All set up and first impressions are pretty good.
