Dont know a lot about these so hoping someone can educate me a bit.... Looking to get 10 year old son one for xmas....Will want to use it for internet, listening to music, and probably the odd video.......Not sure what else you can do with them... So, I am guessing a 8 gb one would be enough....So which one should I look at, and what price would I be looking to pay..... Just seen one on e-bay for about £55.....

Can anyone help me out please??

Thanks, but couldnt afford that.... dosent need one that size anyway, can you give me a link to a 8 and 16 gb one please?

An 8 year is never going to put 8gb of music on a player, the adults that do probably never really listen to 75% of it. Whatever the capacity of your player you will probably fill it but soon find that you only really listen to about 25% of it at the most. If anything having a smaller cpacity player is a bonus as it makes you put only the stuff you really like on it rather than loads of rubbish that you end up skipping.

These ones have cameras for facetime but apart from that I don't think there is much of a need for the newest models.

Then these do internet, music, video, apps.

the 8gb one os not much cheaper really, £189 clicky you might be better trying to get hold of aearlier model, they will be a bit cheaper

    what's your budget?

Don't forget to factor in another £10 for a decent set of headphones, the ones that come with ipods are awful and normally break within a few months of average use.

Mine has just arrived today, I asked on here first because i didnt know what to buy, I couldnt find stock any where and then currys and dixons had them in so i braved it just to get one xmas pressie out the way.with the £10 saving I dont think its a bad price.

Everywhere seems to have them in at a higher price, or even full original price. It is probably not worth waiting to see if anywhere starts to sell them off, once these are gone, they are gone for good.
The only differences are the new one has a few cameras built in for video recording, video chat and taking photos. Also a higher resolution display.
For £50 you could buy a much better camera than the one included on the ipod touch so in my opinion the one from currys is the best to get.
