I want to build a Fish Tank into a Wall!

I've been thinking about a fish tank built into a wall for a while now, seen a few wall mounted tanks in Shopping Centre's like Lakeside but they are very pricey!

Can anyone out there recommend a quality supplier or know somebody who has built one into a wall before...?

I want to be able to see into the Tank from my Lounge and Dining Room.

I have read the thread titled Fish Tanks but a bit off topic now talking about dogs...

    Any advice well appreciated.

Firstly you need to make sure that the wall you want to use is not a structual one, do you know if it brick or a hollow plasterboard cavity. you may find that a by cutting out from a structual wall will affect the integrity of your entire house, where as you may not be able to support from a plasterboard one.

I'd strongly reccomend doing your reasearch on this before starting to look at equipment.

    Cheeky git!
Im not going to spam this thread, so ill leave now

just to clarify is your lounge and dining room 1 large room or are they seperated by this deviding wall?

I got the impression you wanted 2 sides to this tank to be visible.

    or are you after this?

Thanks for the Link MinstrelMan but that Fish Tank is wall mounted...

The wall is a stud partition (plasterboard on a wooden frame then plastered) so easy to cut into.

Your right, I want to see the Tank and through the Tank from both rooms!

    Thanks.

So your looking for someone that can custom make a tank the same width as the wall so it has a flush finish?

Instead of fish though, imagine having several dogs in a tank - Now THAT would be a talking point!

    Your obviously Barking Mad... :giggle:

    Back on Topic.

The Tank doesn't need to be flush with the wall, the wall is approx. 7" thick (4"x4" frame, 1" Plasterboard either side, then plaster finish) it can protrude say 6" either side...
