Buy her loads of clothes from Matalan and tell her when she can stop being so fussy you might get her some stuff from Primark.

Designer stuff? what like Gucci, LV? or Zara, Mango?

    (btw, primark ftw)

take her shopping with a budget, get her to pick out stuff. Then wrap them up for Xmas. would do it closer to Xmas though....

    New iPod, GHD hair straightners???

no we are not that bad there is no chance she is getting another when she already has one plus if i do that for her i then have to do it for her 15 year old sister and i have already bought her presents. i am just looking for a few extra bits for her not mega amounts as i have already spent about £150 on her and i simply cannot afford to go silly this year.

nice one i am sure they will be chuffed, my fella got me a new laptop last xmas and the girls just had a old computer so i gave them my old laptop and then we ended up getting the eldest(15 year old) a laptop of which i got off ebay brand new rrp was £400 and i got it for £180 well chuffed!!! so they now have one each and i have got my 5 year old a elonex mini laptop just for games and doing her paint pictures for her birthday which will be on boxing day then she will be 6 year old.alot of the problem is with buying this expensive stuff is if you do it for one you have to do it for all of them lol.

Woah, wish i was a kid again, would get so much spent on me for xmas.. I remember I was really greatful to get £20 from parents lol. How about get them a savings account for uni? Perhaps not now.. but they will be so so so greatful when its uni time. :-D Also, it may teach them a little bit on the values of money.

yeah basically i am only looking to spend about another £50 but i have bought her perfume and stuff just completely stuck now for ideas i feel really tight as she has only got like 5 presents but money is tight this year and she understands that but you know i just really awful about it really she is not the problem its the 15 year old that demands more as she said the other day she wants the short classic black ugg boots but she is a adults size 6 and they are £150 but i managed to get them off shudoo using there 20% off code so got them for £120 but she knows she isnt going to get many pressies as i simply cannot afford to do it this year but my other half says if she wants the boots then let her she may as well have something she wants.

It's cool - I don't intend on being horrible about it, just to merely suggest to take it easy on buying xmas pressies that are beyond your means - the kids need to understand financial limitations, or they don't appreciate the value of money.

    Good luck.

Thats your problem though, you spend money like its going out of fashion whether you've got it or not,a few weeks ago you were selling a diamond ring on here coz you needed the cash.

You complain here one week you're skint then the next you wanna spend a fortune on your kids etc,if you haven't got the money the kids will have to do without, sod designer labels, thats partly to do with the parents too,my niece will be 13 in January and doesn't care about labels, nor does her Mother.

xmas isnt about just pressies, its fine being extravagent when you got the money to do so, but when you havent then being with family and having fun should be enough, how about getting some big family games for you all to play.

I think the best present is family bonding, if you feel you have to spend go somewhere for xmas, then treat it as a xmas present for the family.

imo, family comes first, that doesnt necessary mean kids come first altho they are very high up. If the family is in the red, it really is unfair to keep the kids out of this family situation. your kids wont hate you for it because im sure they will understand, possibly be more than happy to help too. :gift:

oh for god sake dont start, i did sell that ring and i did need the cash how the hell can i be spending money i dont have i am saying in this thread over and over i am tight on cash what part of that do you not understand my kids are entitled to have xmas presents or do you think they should have nothing coz there dad was made redundant and we went into debt. if my daughter wants ugg boots or something instead of having 10 presents which cost a tenner each then that is down to her i am sure you dont understand as do not alot of other people on her coz they dont know the situation as for me spending money like its going out of fashion i used to have a £50,000 a year income so i could do it then it is hard to get used to not having that type of money i kick myself everyday for not saving the cash but we didnt know he was going to get made redundant and i am sure plenty of people have done this.

yeah thats all i want some pressies for my girls and a lovely crimbo dinner at home spending it together as a family i am not fussed about anything else me and the oh are not bothering with pressies for each other we are just interested in sorting the girls out and having a nice day.

... I have a question, if youve given your 15yr old £120 would they have instantly spent it on the Ugg boots?

Reason I ask is I've been brought up weirdly.. If someone gives me something I want great..! (tho i may well easily take it for granted), however if someone gives me the cash to get the present I become overly hesitant.. lol....

lol probably not this is my argument with her as when she gets cash she is so tight with it, but my partner is saying if that what she wants then get it her so i have said well she wont have many pressies if thats the case but he has said if thats what she wants thats the price she has to pay to get them.

and thats what i have now learnt to do. fact is when he was made redundant we suddenly had nothing no weekly wage coming in so we fell back on credit cards to pay the morgage and every other bill we had no savings which i seriously could kick myself for. he told me in may that he may not have a job by christmas as the company was struggling so i though s**t i better get saving and living on a tight budget just to prepair for it but as it was he lost his job 2 weeks later so i didnt get the chance.
