Oh lumor!!!

Staffys are how they are brought up! There is alot of people on this forum with them and you would find that they are soft as anything, its the way they are brought up, im not gonna get in an arguement, but to say there is 2 dogs the kennel club recommend with children, 1 being a staffy!

you can't say that that breed of dog is nasty, it depends on how you bring them up.

Invariably it is the owner who is to blame. There is a staff that has been taught to tear off the bark from the trees in the park in front of my house. Therefore it is the owner that is barking mad rather than the dog.
Give a loony a dog and the dog will become like him (or her).

my brother tried stabbing me  unfortunately my Mum failed to connect it with his pot smoking, she still doesn't see where she went wrong with him (er letting him smoke pot in the house me thinks). I was the good one :pirate: and continue to contribute to the economy  by downloading movies and games :-D why risk being arrested in shops hu.

I paid £150 for him, they are fab dogs couldnt recommend them enough, my dog loves them to bits, she is gentle, kind, and well soft as they come!

She is mad as a hatter, loves jumping on trampoline, going down the kids slide with the kids, skateboarding, loves her walks and is fab with other dogs. As long as they are socialised well, they are fantastic breed to have in my opinion. I am a member of a staffy site which when you read it you would see that they are just amazing, some have won agility awards, flyball awards, come 1st place in shows. If you want the link to the staffy forum go to google, type in Staffy forum, should be top one!

Staffies are also known as nanny dogs for a reason:thumbsup: They are one of the best breeds to have with kids if you are after a particular breed. thestaffordshirebullterrier.co.uk/ind…htm
They dont get over excited easily like some other dogs and are in general a placid and soppy breed, they are misunderstood and judged on their appearance as they are quite hefty, when cross bred with other dogs its genarally the staffies nature that comes through on them too.

I used to have really bad eczema when I was younger, eventually grew out of it. I once said "I can't wait till I'm old enough enough to have my balls cut off" that's how bad it was on my testicles was 9 or 10  I've since found out I'm really allergic to cats and we had two :w00t: might want to consider your dogs being an allergen to your little one? ;-)

Before you start thinking anything the cats used to sleep in the washing basket on all the clean washing

They were actually bred as fighting dogs (as British Bull Terriers were too cumbersome & prone to rear hip failure) - they used to dog fight during the day.......but then babysit the owners children at night.

They are the softest & loving dogs you can own, it's how they are brought up that matters - the same with anything else.

People who "brand" dogs such as the Staffy as dangerous are quite frankly, to$$sers, and very narrow minded.

I'd happily leave mine in a room with a baby & know that no harm would ever some to baby or dog.

Mine wouldn't hurt a fly, she even ran away when a little ratty dog bit her on the side !!!

Lumoruk, you always diss staffies on this forum, especially when connected with kids. I would'nt mind if you had actual facts and experiences of this breed, but it seems like you have none. I do have to disagree with this bit though, "They dont get over excited easily like some other dogs" it's the funniest thing i've read about a staff, i've had seven, and would happily double that figure!

Amcol, maybe me and your dog breeder, council estate trash could wear our footie shirts together, when walking round the streets dripping in bling, with our child attacking monsters on leads......!!! Give me a break...pleassssse!

Sorry that bit was meant when they are in the company of little kids, in my experience when near kids they tend to calm down a lot and go to full on sop mode, when in an open space or away from kids they can and do get daft half hour mode on!

I wouldnt trust completely any dog alone with my kids as it only takes that once for the kid to catch the dog in the eye or something and catch the dog off guard, however a staffie is the breed i'd trust most.

however saying that i would trust my friends boxer (Naz - how original!! LOL) thats only because his bite wouldnt do any damage, certainly not enough to break the skin as the poor lad has no teeth!

Also I dont believe in the myth of a dangerous breed per sé, only dogs that if they do turn bad are capable of inflicting more severe damage. 99% of dogs that do attack is down to the owners treatment of the dog, its very rare for a dog that has been treated properly through its life (this includes being firm with them and setting them boundaries - not letting the dog become the pack leader).

Ive always found its the small dogs that tend to snap more at people (ankle biters) and this is due to the fact though they tend to get pampered more and see themselves as pack leaders, wheras with big dogs people tend to stay in control of them more and do more vigorous training with them.

Only two dogs have tried to have a taste of me and that was a toy yorkie and a chihuaha. Bigger dogs have always been more placid.

At the end of the day its bad owners and not bad dogs.

Excellent posts, deserves rep.....my motto is "never say never" and be sensible but not stupid.
