I'm high, a little help?

I was at the doctors today and got a some new painkiller medication which is making me feel a bit high. Is it a good idea to have some Red Bull? I'm at work but can't concentrate on anything so thought that might give me a kick to sort myself out.

surely thats more likely to make you feel jittery than concentrate?
What do you do, could you just break down your work into smaller bits you could manage better? Maybe after a day or so the side effects will level out a bit?

I'm in work so only things I can get are from the shop so was hoping Red Bull would wake me up a bit.
I've taken paracetamol, ibprofen, diclofenac, asacol and co-codamol so far today lol

Its no wonder you feeling like you are. have you overdosed as all these tabs should not be used together.

Working on a big project and there's a deadline on it or I'd have just gone home and taken a half day.

I'll be alright tomorrow doctor never told me that dicofenac was a painkiller as well so took it with the other painkiller so won't take bout together again
Just when i thought i had seen it all on here! oO

I know I can't take paracetamol with co codamol but there was 5 hours between taking them. Its the Diclofenac and co codamol making me feel high

Surely you would have read the paper inc with the pills to see whether is is ok for you to take the mountain of drugs with the pills. Also, the pharmacist should have told you this. Forget the project, we all have big projects, someone else will take the slack.....anyway its not like your doing a great deal on it, your here talking to us lol
You won't poop for days after all that, go drink some prune juice.

Don't forget the Vodka!

I think just drink lots of water to try and flush them out your system. Im surprised the GP prescribed you something else without any proper advice.. (Infact, Im not surprised at all really!)

Is this a man thing!? My fella does the same, gets a headache he cant shift, but will then ask what he can do when he feels sick because of the paracetamol, asprin and Syndol!

Whats wrong with you.. something you could try a tens machine on, muscle rubs etc? Just doesnt seem a good idea to be on tablets if theyre making other things even harder to do :o/

Doctor told me I could take them together just forgot to add that Diclofenac was also a painkiller, I never read those leaflets, I usually ask the doctor any questions when I'm getting a new drug.

There's nobody else in the office that can do what I do so I'm stuck in work, I'm gonna get a some red bull in me for the laugh and see how that goes!!
I prescribe pro-plus, three espressos and 4 cans of Red Bull.

The co-codamol alone would give you the symptoms you describe. I tried a similar analgesic (co-dydramol) last year and it felt similar to what I can imagine 3 bottles of wine would do to someone. You probably know this but you aren't supposed to drive or operate machinery whilst on co-codamol.

Usually co codamol has no side effects on me but mixed with the other stuff its hit me.

word of warning, with that mix of meds, you are going to have a killer headache tomorrow.

and in all honesty your gp isn't the best person to ask about meds, the pharmacist is.

sounds like you have od

If your company does "big projects" and you are its only resource then there is a huge flaw in the company. If you were off sick and a project needed to be delivered what woudl they do? Seems as though your company needs me to tell them how to run!

There are others who can do it but they are on site or on leave at the moment so they are stuck with me. If I was off sick then issuing the design package would be delayed, it's a multinational company so I think they know how to run it and its a £600 million project so I'd call it a "big project"

manager has a lot to answer for! Ive worked for internation companies and they make sure there are people there who can do the job. If there is no one else left then the responsibility falls on the manager to do it.......either way we haev not missed a deadline...... hope you recover from your high.
It looks like your just going to have to wait untill it's out of your system, no quick way of doing that. If you can work through it then fine, but from what you say your already struggling, in that case not much point of being at work

True, I'm going to give it another hour and head home, I'll just put some extra time in tomorrow to catch up.
One thing for sure you do not want to be having any caffeine or taurine especially caffeine

Drink plenty of water, eat, some apples and see if you can get some burnt toast

I don’t think I’ve worked with any company that hasn’t had a select few key members of staff, who as part of the project, would cause a serious disruption if off sick for a length of time over a couple of a days. While everyone always puts in contingencies within their Project Plan, it’s inevitable that this will occur. Some people just become key to the success of a project and meeting deliverables.

Considering most, it not all of the companies i've had a chance to work with are in the global fortune 500 list. I'd say it's pretty common, even in the most efficient and sucessful organizations.

maybe get on with the project rather than post on here? might get you home quicker!

Good lad Paddy, power on through with sugar and caffeine lol
Paddy, Diclofenic is not a strong painkiller it is more of an anti inflammatory drug. I got given those to take after my knee operation and these were on top of some pretty hardened pain killers I was already on so I wouldn't worry about it!!

Good old red bull and sugar rush got me through, not feeling high anymore and still at work!

@adam - I think it was the mix of the drugs as I take strong painkillers regularly for chron's and I don't get any high feeling off them
Glad to hear you made it through mate, know what you mean about getting use to them as they have no affect on me either!!

No painkiller makes you feel high like a good shot of morpheine for post op pain. lol

When I had a stomach operation years ago they were giving me the strongest painkiller possible can't remember what it was called but I wouldn't even realise people had visited me I was that out of it.

I was in hospital on it for a month and had to experience cold turkey when they took me off it and that sucked!

Fetanyl? Thinks that is the strongest you can have short of being knocked out cold. lol

I think that was the one but it was 7 years ago so can't remember it that well. But I got it about every 5 hours when the pain was at its worst so my body was like a dart board with all the injections

I was taking ibuprofen and diclofenac together- you're not supposed to as they're both anti-inflammotrys. Also I had co-codamols, I was so ill. I was on this weird high for about 4 hours, my heart was racing, my head was spinning, I just wanted to stop the world and get off!!!
I hope it's worn off for you now. I refuse to take them now!!
