I'm looking for a MTB Jump/Trails/Street Bike. 24" or 26"?

Ok so I'm like only 5 foot 6 inches tall, but I dont know what size I should go for for my height.

Could someone with Jump/Trails/Street bike knowledge give me any info on whether 1 size will benefit me more?

Many thanks for your time.

with such bikes, your height matters less as the geometry is designed around the handling of the bike as opposed for being able to transfer energy to the road more efficiently.
so it really depends on what you're using it for.
if it's your first time at trials then probably 24" because it will be easier to handle being smaller.
same with dirt jumping.
if you planning on doing something like 4x then probably go for 26"

you'll see some 6ft guys riding 24", it's really down to preference not really a height formula.
could even go 24" on the rear and 26" on the front if you want a steeper ride!

Check out this thread,Some of the stuff on there is fantastic.

Aha ok, so will a bike with 24 wheels still be able to take 26 wheels? What I mean is that do the bikes with 24 wheels have a shorter rear triangle which would stop a 26 wheel being fitted?

it depends on what frame you buy, some frames will be built to fit 24" wheels, which means if you wanted to go up, you'd only be able to fit a 26" to the front (most forks are built for 26")
frames that are built to fit 26" would be able to run 24" wheels fine
but remember that if you plan on running 24" on a frame built for 26" you will only be able to have disc breaks.

They don't do sizes in inches any more or am I wrong? thought they only did small, medium and large now.

BTW can anyone recommend any other Jump/Street/Trails MTB for a beginner?
