I'm moving house in the morning. Is it normal to feel a little sad.

I have spent a good few years in this house, but now it is time to move on.
I have 2 daughters, one 9 and the other 13.
This house is a 2 bedroom mid terraced house.
I'm moving to a three bedroom corner house with a largish garden.
I'm only moving so that my girls can have a bedroom each.
Is it OK to feel sad or am I being a wuss?
I'm only going 1/4 mile away so perhaps I could visit from time to time.

By the way, I still have tons of packing to do so will be popping in and out of HUKD tonight.

Yes end of an era

How long you been there for?

I would say of course it's normal to feel sad. You've seen your girls grow up in that house, it's bound to hold lots of memories.
Good luck with the move. Hope it goes smoothly and problem free.

When I left my £1.1M house to move to my £1.5M house I did feel slightly sad however I was glad that I was moving to a bigger house as the £1.1M house was too small (it only had 6 bedrooms).

ah bless you hun! it's perfectly acceptable to feel an attachment to a house that you've been happy and raised a family in.
But I'm sure that you will be just as happy in your new home, just with more space to be happy in.
Good luck with the move x

Good luck with the move.

You are probably just emotional through tiredness and stress.

Hope you love your new home

Yes, I've always ended up feeling sad; it's unsettling, literally, as well - out of the safety zone and into the new wide world.

Good luck with everything,

yer big jessy, give us a manly hug

I'd feel the same mate, hope the move goes well & dont forget my invite for the house warming party

Absolutely normal mate! You would be a cold-hearted b******** if you did not feel bad moving out of a home...Me and my girlfriend moved to a new flat 2 weeks back and she cried on the last day in the old one

Btw, EDF energy have a useful checklist, there might be better ones around but I found this quite useful - edfenergy.com/pro…tml

(click on top tips for home movers).

cheers, and hope you dont feel stressed out with the moving even if its just 1/4 mile away!

Good luck JP, hope all goes well for you dude....

I always think of moving house as a refresher in life, a time to reflect on why you are moving, the reasons for doing it, the positive aspects and the good that it will bring.

Its also a time to reflect on the time that you have spent in the house that you are moving from, to remember the good times, and the not so good times in the hope that the move will be refreshing enough to help bring some closure to events of the past. Leave those in the past and move on.

Its a new chapter in your life, look forward to moving to your new house and home.

PS : Dont forget the sky box!

a part of you - and defo your childrens, if born there. just hope the grass is greener eh ?

Yep

Very stressful too! Good luck in your new home.

Hope the move runs smooth for you phil... and yes, I'd say it is fine to feel sad! ;-)

Yeah - it's normal to feel sad; but that sadness will be gone as soon as you are moved in and unpacked.

Good luck with the new house Phil.........

I'd imagine you wont forget your times in the old house, but it won't be long before you appreciate the new one.

Good Luck with the move, perfectly normal. All will be forgotten when you are settled

Hun, you're gonna be fine.

It's natural to feel a lil sad when you move. The last place has been your home all this time and you've been safe there.

You're gonna be safe and happy in the new place too, and as you said you're moving for a reason. The benefits start immediately.

You have a heart! Good for you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good luck with the move to bigger and better xx

Think i'll cry when I have to leave my house lol

I still miss every place I have lived sometimes; everyone had things I liked. One was in the heart of Headingley so was great when I was early 20's. Then I had a house which was ridiculously cheap to rent but didn't have enough rooms for my growing family; I mainl miss the cheap rent form there. I now love the house I am in, mainly as it is mine (well the banks but still). Good luck with your move.

My friend committed suicide in his home and his house then went up for sale.

I alway's wondered what the people might think after they moved in or whether it might hold up the sale if peole found out what had happened there.

Good luck with the move

Blimey! Do dolls houses cost THAT much???

Good luck with the move:thumbsup: I moved house every 2-3 years, even as a kid. I've been in my present house for 7 years - it's the longest I've ever lived in one place!
(And no, I wasn't moving to escape creditors/bailifs:giggle: - both my dad & myself were in the Army)

Is it OK to feel sad or am I being a wuss?

sorry big guy, this one

ps. dont forget the pics for me and Andy of this summer house/man shed we have heard so much about - seriously though :-D

It will get easier
