I'm seriously thinking about emigrating...Which country should I go to or give me some reasons why I should stay in old Blighty!

I'm getting so disillusioned with this country...Whats keeping me here?!!

As with most countries! If I do emigrate it will be as a business relocation, so work permit may not apply...

I was considering emigrating to Australia, if it wasn't for family here, I would have applied for a family visa & gone! :w00t:

Why would you want to leave? You got it all there!!! Beautiful country, … Why would you want to leave? You got it all there!!! Beautiful country, lovely people.Have to admit when I was in Oz, it did scare me that it was such a BIG country, but compare being there and camping up the road for a holiday and being in the UK camping up the road, the money spent on a trip to Spain etc for a fortnight, doesn't really compare, yep, being so far from family is a consideration, but how often do you see your family here anyway? You have the opportunity to move? GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't look back!!!!!!!!!!!

You make a compelling arguement and i like your enthusiasm!!

What about USA? It all looks so nice on TV!!

spent 13 months in aus on a working visa backin1999 - it was a messed up place beack then, lots of smack in sydney, found needles inmy hostel and in the toilets in random cafes in perth, so its not just sydney.

nz.. also had a working visa for this place back in 2005 and it was nice, but auckland felt very slow - great fishing though if you are into that... boring place.. nice views... hmmm.

off to thailand tomorrow for at least 4 months, got a 15 month visa and it is my fav counrty.

    Canada

yeah you can - I will organise a whip round asap and you can be on your merry way

Surely any move abroad is dependent on the OP's financial and work situation.

No good moving anywhere if you cannot afford to go, or cannot get a decent job.;-)

oh well I better cancel that whip round

starsparkle you have so much passion for Aussie that your stories sound like you were there...yet you refer to England as 'here'...so it sounds like u went to australia and then came back here yet you love australia....why u leave? lol or have i got it wrong?

You could emigrate to wales, its cheaper than Australia :whistling:
Plus you can nip home to visit the relatives when ever you want

.can't think of any where nicer than Engand!!

    Ireland...........

wish I could even think about emigrating.

Currently relieing on the NHS at the moment though, the cost of buying my meds abroad would cripple me muchly. Also my other half is an imigrant, who has opened my eyes to how lucky we are here in the UK. He is from Jo-berg, not such a great place to live, and a place thats going to become increasingly dangerous for whites. Think I'll stay in the uk, where I know he can live, and be safe.

I heard something similar that NZ is kinda boring and a friend in Perth has told me it gets a bit 'lively' and isn't a place for little ones, she doesn't think i should move...

Not considering South Africa...Im sure its lovely but don't think its the place for me!

If we were in the financial position we are in now, 10 years ago.........we would definately have emigrated. Still considering retiring abroad though.

Another vote for Oz. Got friends in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. I wouldn't chose Perth, purely because you are already isolated enough being on the continent of Australia, without making it just one city, another 4 hours from anywhere. I absolutely love Sydney harbour and the views and used to live in the Eastern Suburbs in a place called Randwick, 10 minutes stroll from Coogee beach. But I think I'd probably chose Melbourne if I were to emigrate.

More isolated (and beautiful) than Perth, New Zealand is a fantastic place, but if you went there, I doubt you'd ever be able to afford to come back should you want to. (Something you need to factor in!)

Obviously the old saying comes in about grass not always greener................. Oz is a great place, but there are negatives too. Flies are a pain, and lower wages and rising house prices. Oz also has their own migrant problem, though its amusing to see the press use a term that would get you labelled a racist for describing someone from Pakistan! (I'll never forget the first time I saw it as a headline in the sports pages!)

Canada has spectacular scenery....... just too damned cold in winter.

I do believe that any state pension payments you get from the UK at retirement age are also frozen at the initial rates if you are not domiciled in the UK.

may be worth bearing that in mind.

Not sure where you got that from, I have some friends in Spain and they get exactly the same pension from the UK as folk get here, including increases.
