And slowly but surely people realise that voting is a complete waste of time.

Both parties would have allowed this, except the Conservative MPs would have probably made more money out of it.

I've served on the Portfolio holders forum for Children and Young people as an elected school parent governor.

It's nothing to boast about. (Seriously)

I can't say I was too impressed by any of the councillors I met during our meetings.

I was 6yrs old when Margaret Thatcher was voted into power in 1977, I remember sitting on the sofa at my Grandma's house and watching the whole process as it was shown on TV. The changes she made mean that there is now less council housing available to individuals and families who are ready to leave home and yet cannot afford to do so. Many children during the 80's and 90's were brought up in terrible poverty...The thought of the conservatives getting into power again personally fills me with dread.

As to how I would answer that statement.. would have to be the same as the BNP one.. " you're thinking of voting conservative? "

As I've said before, it is a basic human right as to which political party an individual wishes to vote for.

You mean Gordon Brown isn't a Conservative???

Two quick questions:

1. if you were six then have you forgotten about the Labour government that preceded the Thatcher reign?

2. what if anything is better now after the current Labour government have been in power?

I dont remember much politically before the election when I was 6, silly. :P

I'm not saying that one government is better than any other. I'm no political expert. Politics isn't my cup of tea.

I remember my own individual circumstances... my children have been raised with far more free cash than I was. And our families are about the same, two working parents, four children. House, car, dog, the usual. Casting my mind back to the 70's.. my kids have mobile phones, we of course did not. We *rented* our TV when I was a child.. these days we own several. My kids have computers, regular holidays, etc. I'm not saying these things make life any better for kids now, but we certainly have more money available than my parents did. How do we measure the *success* of each government when statistics are often forged, manipulated and/misleading, surely it comes down to the quality of life of the man on the street.

That's sorta cute. I mean, you can vote for a party that is promising a referendum on independence, but it's funny that Parliament (the proper one) would have to actually vote on it.

But I like their policies on higher education.
