The knifes will probably land you a fine if your caught by UK customs. The bat probably not.

You need to ask the airline. You will have to declare them, not put them in your luggage. Don't risk not getting caught!

you cant bring the knives in-they are illegal in the united kingdom.

i wouldn't risk either TBH, both could potentially land you in some serious trouble

I fly in and out several times a month, The Duanes at the Airport are VERY keen so I would say no to the knives and chance the baton

I can't even take soft cheese or jam back to the UK :x FFS .... weapons......roll on

In the UK, The Butterfly Knife has been legally classified as an offensive weapon since January 1989.[7] Possession of one is an offence under the Prevention of Crime Act 1953. Sale, lending, hiring, giving or importing is prohibited by the Offensive Weapons Act 1988. Any imported are liable to be seized and prosecution may follow. The exception to this are knives of this type over 100 years old which are classed as antiques.
From Wikipedia

Also from Wikipedia
In the UK, batons are covered generally by the offensive weapons act which makes it illegal to carry items "made or adapted for use in causing harm to a person" however extendable batons such as the Monadnock Autolock series of baton and the ASP are listed specifically in the Home Office list of prohibited weapons along with items such as "flick" knives.

SH*T ! thanks everyone i thought that they would be okay in the main hold, guess that was stupid of me to think that, i dont know what im going to do now, might have to give ryanair a ring and ask them.

Just pack a bomb in your suitcase. They'll be that worried about that they won't even noticed the knives or baton

your suitcase will be xrayed before loading onto the plane so my advice is just leave em in france-you have no chance!

Although we did have a mate who brought home a large samuri sword for her son as a display piece and a 20inch curved and fancy blade

you are not listening

these are illegal weapons in the UK

therefore I very much doubt ryanair will say "oh aye, nee bother bonny lad, welcome aboard - aye, pop ya semtex in the hold luggage as well - safer that way"

if you are going to try to import this sort of stuff - post it to your mate

otherwise, either take them back to the shop for a refund or take the hit and bin them.

Like the lay the french ryainair staff have a scottish accent :-D

incidentally-if your "mate" really does train with weapons etc,Im willing to bet he knows exactly what the legal position in the uk is with these so why would he ask you to risk arrest by importing them for him?he never explained the dangers to you beforehand? some mate!

ps......give Ryan Air a call, they'll be very understanding and you'll probably get upgraded :whistling:

Yeah, and given your own 'security guard' to sit with you on the flight back...

This thread is so stupid it's a bit like asking if you can pack a brick of cocaine in your luggage, well my mate said it would be ok.

OP,keep taking the medication:thumbsup:

they stopped me bring my disney knives and forks back I had to go back out of gate and declare them and repack and send to the hold - ok then, luckily I had time and a bag to be able to do so

even if they let you take them on the plane,as soon as you picked your luggage up at the airport you would be committing an arrestable offence by possessing an offensive weapon.

You need to throw them away

unbelievable, he will be asking next if he can take a gun on a plane , bloody butterfly knives and a steel riot batton ? how can u train with these ? a load of bull sh&t

I dont want to protect myself, i intend doing that my keeping my head down and if that doesnt working pressing 9 9 9 on my mobile, thats how everyone should protect themselves and that way there would be no need for protecting yourself altho thse knives truely are for him to spin and do tricks with, also if i wanted a knife to protect myself a flcik knife wud be better as its quicker to get out or if it was to just attack sum1 with then a standard kitchen knife would be sufficient,

AND IF I WANTED TO PROTECT MYSELF BOXING IS PROBABLY NOT THE BEST OPTION, as i dont know alot infact barely anything about martial arts but i think that boxing is an offensive one rather than a defensive or mixed

They will br fine if you put them in your case in the hold
