In need of a good value netbook or laptop for some travelling pensioners!

    Hi all,

my pensionable folks are off to America for a year to rove around the states in one of those monster RVs. They aren't very computer savvy - all they want to do is surf the net, stay in touch with family on Skype and maybe watch youtube and films etc

Ive had a good search through the deals and theres nothing that really stands out.

Can anyone recommend something that is:

    Good value
    Has good battery life
    screen size at least 10"

Rep waiting for any useful suggestions

    Travelling Pensioners?

Rather go and see the circus!! :w00t:

We have an Acer Aspire One netbook for pretty much those reasons. I guess it's a bit out of date now (???) but it does the jobs well IMO!

    Can't wait to retire

Have you checked out trusted reviews?
    trustedreviews.com/lap…ops

    buy one in the states
it will be atleast $50-100 cheaper guaranteed

    walmart etc sell them

youd be an idiot to buy one here if your going stateside.
all computer components are dirt cheap over there

TBH when we got ours in Feb 09, we got it for going to Australia, but hubby was going to Florida at that time and checked out the prices there and they weren't anything like as good as they had been the year before - the pound/dollar thing maybe, so it's not 'guaranteed' as such.
The previous November we had checked out Walmart on-line for Sanyo camcorders and picked up a very good deal then, but we have found that the days of super cheap by comparison are gone.
It's a good idea to check store prices on-line though.
Just had a quick look at Walmart and they have just e.g. reduced the Acer 10.1" to a good price, saving £50 on Amazon price - should check that it uses both 230 & 115 volts - just to be sure!

Just a thought but the other advantage to buying it stateside if they are going to be there for a year is the ability to return it if it goes wrong within warranty.
