Zoplicone didn't work for me. Got Valerian tablets at my local health food shop (you could try Holland & Barratt or online Healthy Direct).

Now been given Rivotril (Clonazepan) for restless legs and relaxes me really well, in the land of nod within the hour

 For doing a good job...........

Only those with chronic conditions should be on regular prescriptions for sleeping pills. You have to try everything else possible bfore taking these regularly. Otherwise 5yrs later, complaining about being hooked and cannot live without them.

Can have them as a one off for recent traumatic event, maybe 7 tabs but anymore and it is a slippery slope.

    t*sser, far from it!

How often would you need to take them?

one every night, i was given 20 pills this time around

In that case I sort of agree with iglimpse, my doctor perscribed them for me but I was doing 6 a month when I was on night shift. He did say any more and he would have reservations about making them a regular perscription.

Why can't you sleep? (can't see it in the thread)

far from it after reading ilovelilacs full post :?........it was in reference to his attitude

my doctor took me down the homoeopathic route and was very concerned as doctors should be as there were underlying causes

to tell her to deal with it is very irresponsible

i dont really wanna be hooked on pills anyway, im not gonna use then thats why im after a natural remedy, doc just said every student complains bout not sleeping and i should try to deal with it, that wasnt exactly helpful to me

yea that why i understand why you called him a ******, i left there in tears cos i knew that nothing's gonna change with the pills he prescribed me

I find the best way to get get to sleep is to get up at the crack of dawn, run after 3 kids all day, cook, clean, iron, clear the washing basket, be nice to hubby & then at the end of it decide on having baby #4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now and again when I cant sleep I take a dose of liquid night nurse or 50mg Nytol one a night capsules.

I have also heard that some travel sickness tablets can aid with sleep, but I dont know what brand.

i see what your saying but im under close supervision by my doctor so if anything seemed to be going wrong then it wouldnt go undetected. Those pills worked a treat by the way, fell asleep at 10 although i woke up at 4pm whoops, but it was just great to get some quality unintterupted sleep for once... and the drugs im on now have very few side effects and as stated they are not addictive which can only be a plus
