Insurance Claim for a DS Lite

Whilst on holiday my son dropped his DS Lite in the pool and needless to say it doesn't work.

Looking to claim on the insurance for which there is a £50 excess but the insurance company is also asking for proof that it can't be repaired.

Took it to PC World who wanted to charge £25 just to look at it.

Anyone know anywhere that will examine them for free as its not worth proceeding with claim if not.

    Is it worth anything damaged??

imo its really not worth claiming for such a small amount, may put your premiums up next yr.

for the £50 excess you'd pay you could buy a decent 2nd hand one on here ;-)

Go to one of your local small shops. the type that repairs TV's videos , hi fis etc, all you need is an electrical engineer !

If they are half / semi professional, they will have letter headed paper and should do it for free..... you may have to convince them you will use the money to buy something from them.

It only needs a basic letter, etc

xxx ds lite is beyond economical repair due to water damage...

We could supply a replacement for £xxx etc ( bumped up price , etc )

    lol

There may be no excess with water damage ( which come under accidental damage ), would do the op to check small print...

There is an excess but won't bump premium up as its holiday insurance. Anything back is better than nothing.

ah ok, hence them being rubbish about wanting proof then

    good luck

Just look in the yellow pages for a small electrical repair shop. Make up your own letterhead with their details and type something along the lines of what robbie 1412 said. doubt they will check with them.

i had something similliar with my sons netbook and its not worth the hassle or difference in premium either unless its something worth a good few hundred at least!
