    Insurance Company Recommendation

Okay, so I'm sticking this in misc but it could probably also count as a deal request.

Going to Aus & NZ for 2 months in July. Stopovers in Singapore on the way out and Hong Kong on the way back in.

Looking for a recommendation over what insurance company to use. Would prefer an annual multi-trip policy as they seem about the same price and would obviously cover me for flight cancellations between now and July!

My preference is for a low excess if possible. If you have any horror stories or indeed a more positive dealing with a company I'd love to know.

Can you not get it through your bank. Most include it in their packages. I am with natwest and they do it. Its all included in a monthly price. Also with low excess most of the time.

I will check that now. Good shout. Just got rid of my Mastercard with Natwest & my current account is a graduate one so not sure.

I think its £12 a month so join for two months and then cancel when you get back.

travel insurance direct is who i generally use, not the cheapest but when ive compared before(a few times) they have had the better cover

thats was for se asia and australia also

id check and compare the cover you are gonna get if you gonna go with your bank.......

I think you will find that most annual multi trip insurances only cover a holiday for up to 30 days.

As you are going for longer you will need to go via a specialist.

    have a look here

Try atlas direct as they are cheap.

    Cheers all.

I've seen annual covers pretty cheap (60 & 90 day trip lengths). Will be going for one of those because of course if there is a big flight issue between now and July I'll be stuffed without cover for that period.

Will check out Atlas - have heard good things about them.

Looking at MSE but the companies they talk about don't quite cover what I want.

Cheers Caspar, but that site is for last-minute short-term cover. The link to the annual multi-trip policies are only for 31 days.

If I don't get an annual policy, and then in early June BA or Quantas advertise a flight cancellation or strike, I'm stuffed.

Found some decent policies in and around £75. Just trying to compare cover levels which is the hard part the way some of the documents are phrased!

A backpacker insurance policy for 12 months will rightly presume one is travelling for that length of time - the cost reflects this.

Annual multi is more suited to my needs. Nowadays it seems to be possible to find this type of policy for trip lengths between 15 and 90 days.
