    lol @ bellend

sorry...if you have protected your no claims you won't lose out, if you haven't well you'll lose your 11 years no claims in which case it will probably work out cheaper to get it all done yourself

on a side note I was rear ended last tuesday still trying to sort it out.

not worth claiming as repair will probably be cheaper then your excess (probably around £250)

if you claim, you normally fall back 2 steps on your NCB

so will fall to about 40% from 65% Full NCB (roughly)

Aah, I thought it was just your brake light cluster that was broken. Check your policy but I would think the rear screen would be covered and the claim would not affect your no claims discount.

I know I'm covered like that.

Your insurance company might treat the rear window the same as a windscreen replacement (eg in the realm of £60 plus no effect on your no-claims), that happened to my sister when she had the same issue. You could always ring around a few scrap-yards for a rear brakelight...

try to get a cheap used one, maybe the whole tailgate in one?

Most insurances have a glass policy, £60 - £100 payment, with no affect on your NCB. The first thing to do is speak to your insurer and find out.

As above, you won't loose your no claims for glass.

    thankyou all.

    To the OP --

Try and just buy a replacement rear brake light cluster.... don't go via your insurance..

protected NCD protects the discount, but it still goes on record you have had a claim... which affects the price of the policy... all that happens is that the same discount is applied.

So for something which may cost you £150 excess for example, its cheaper long term to just pay for it your self

whatever you do when you call them is do not mention the other damage or you will get a claim form a it will be marked as a claim. Just ask for the confimation on your windscreen cover. A tailgate will cost wuite a bit in labour for fitting so may not be best. Light clusters can be bought cheap second hand from on line breakers...google it.

    police nothing they could do.
rear windscreen gonna cost me £80 and will not affect my NCB.
gonna be fixed between 1-4pm tomorrow after they originally said christmas eve.
oh and when i said rear brake light i meant the one that sits in the top of the windscreen near the roof, sry i didnt explain that very well.
