Internet problems

Im having problems getting onto alot of pages over the last few days, i can get on hotukdeals no bother but theyre are a few sites where i get a page load error message, its usally the same sites in which i cannot get on.

Nothing to do with the sites being down as others i know can get on them no bother.

The message i get it: Address Not Found

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

    * Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.
    * Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance.

    Can anyone help?.

Sorry harvie - you must have posted same time as me - reply was to OP
I know you posted on that thread too....

Im having problems as well, some sites no longer load using Firefox or IE

actually me too. this biggest one being mse. havn't been able to get in since friday. done all the usual spyware virus checks and showed up nothing.

was thinking maybe just unlucky that loads of websites I've tried to get into were down.

ive tried alll the recommendations and it still doesnt work

I had a similar problem six or so weeks ago. I am computer literate but could not work out why some sites would load and others would not (Page not available error). In the end I talked to technical support (Pipex Homecall taken over by Tiscali and it was a free support number - and they talked me through changing the DNS numbers that my IE7 was set to. They wouldn't come completely clean on why my IE was suddenly looking for the wrong DNS numbers after working perfectly for a couple of years on the Homecall service but I suspect things had changed when Tiscali took them over and they hadn't told me. I suspect that the Homecall DNS servers were changed over to Tiscali DNS servers working on completely different numbers.

My suggestion to you all is to ring your ISP technical support and ask them to talk you through checking (and changing if necessary) your DNS numbers. This may not be the problem but it sounds so similar to the one I had. Since changing the DNS numbers to the new ones I have had no problems whatsoever.

I can't guide you through this as each ISP has its own DNS numbers and I wouldn't know what they are apart from Pipex Homecall.

dont spose everyone elsei's isp is aol.

    Lol , mine's is.

Been having a few problems with the connection lately.

My Mums AOL Broadband went completely yesterday but since it's been back there's a fair few sites she can't access including You Tube.

Im with AOL too, i cant access loads of sites that my friends ca such as youtube and newsnow, im going to change to o2 asap.

I tried to talk my mum out of going with AO Hell but unfortunately she decided to stay with them as her dial up was with them so she felt it easier so she could keep her email addy etc.

right after a bit off digging on the aol msg boards turns out there is a problem with the aol servers. I'll try and find out some more info.
