Hi all I am going to leave Virgin Media as they are being a a pain in the rear end with me as I was on the £10 but they sorted it out for me a while ago as they overcharged me as they said it was for only 12 months so the credited my account for 6 months!! So anyways the 6 months are over and they want to charge me £14 a month for a 2MB which is expensive IMO. O2 have got good offers as they do 8MB for £12.50!

Just wondering if they are any good or are their any other decent offers around!!

Will do!! Do they capp you at peak times, you had no problems at all? It goes up to £14 a month after 2008 and they got a connection fee of £24!

I've had zero issues with em, really cant recommend them enough (and no, I don't work for em!!).
I have my PC on pretty much 24/7 and download A LOT. Never had any problems.

Regards the recommend a friend, if you want to go with em, i'll need your name and email address in the PM.

lol, i did. I clicked on your link..... Its not £8. well it is for the next month, but then it shoots up to £14. It was only £8 for 2008.
Seemed like a good deal while it lasted, although it was the old up to 8mb

I know so only will be £8 for a month :? + they got a connection charge!

You need to check your distance from the exchange and also if your exchange is LLU enabled. This makes a difference in the service/speed you can receive. Also do you have a BT line if not you will need to consider the cost of line installation and your line rental if you need a new line as BT tie you in for 12 months. Virgin may give you a better deal as well when you inform them you wish to cancel. On ADSL my average was 3.5MB with a lot of disconnections which for me it is better to be with Cable.

Also they said i wont qualify for the 12 Days Xmas thingy as the customers on 2MB get 10MB free in December as it does not get included as im on offer tariff!! :x So they really annoyed me as this is not in the T&C's!!

If you have a BT line you should be OK just check where your local exchange is and the distance to it. ADSL is UP TO 8MB, you should get more than 2MB though

This should tell you your potential and a bit about your exchange. I use www.thinkbroadband.com as previously mentioned. 02 would be one of the best at the moment have they have quite a small customer base in broadband terms so there equipment is not been pushed at the moment. I was with UKonline and Sky when i had ADSL (Both the same comapny anyway). A lot really depends on your exchange and the eqiuipment it has in it and how busy it is, also the quality of the cabling.

    Thanks......

"Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a line rate up to 2Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 5.5Mbps or greater.

Your exchange is planned to have ADSL WBC by 31st March 2009. Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL WBC broadband line rate of 7Mbps or greater.

The actual stable ADSL line rate supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This rate may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.

    Thank you for your interest."
