I use the above which always gives me an IP address in the states

free-hideip.com/

The free version just gives an American IP address, but if you pay $30 then you can select a spoof IP in any country.

I'm looking for one of these so that I can watch a few videos from the mtv us site, any ones recommended? I've found a few that will let me view the web pages but not the videos. I just want to watch the interviews etc that they have...... I've seen quite a few posted on a website but I get the dreaded....this content aint available in the uk message.

I see a few of those posted above you need to install, are they safe to install? I would feel safer with a web browser one... I think (it seems safer, than installing some peice of software anyway, to me)

Using a proxy slows down your internet connection in most cases. Hope you're willing to compromise.

thats why I would rather use a web based version. I only want to use it to view the odd video that is on the usa mtv website. They block people from the uk viewing there videos. Like I see interviews posted in forums but I cant watch the clips as they are blocked.

I would imagine that a web based proxy couldnt slow down your internet connection, or if it did it would just be the sites that you are viewing through the proxy?

Doe this help if you are using torrents as well, or there is some other software/programme..like peerblocker etc

you dont say what browser you are running but there is a rather nifty chrome extension called Proxy SwitchPlus to let you turn (multiple) proxy configs on and off at a click, so you just cnfugre it with proxy server IP's which you have got from the various proxy listings. I'm sure firefox will have an equivalent add-on. hth

Best solution is to sign up for a month use of a VPN. It's simple to set up (no third party software) and then all your traffic is routed through their server (can be encrypted if required). Fast speeds too. Just make sure to get one from a US based firm if that's the country you wish to appear to be coming from.
