    iPad/iTunes help

Could anyone point me in the direction of what I need, please? I have an iPad, a music system with amp/turntable/CD player, and a fairly big collection of CDs and vinyl. How do I put those CDs onto iTunes - can I upload and store them on an external storage device that is portable and that would also connect to my amp?

In regards ato putting CDs onto iTunes, I believe that if you have iTunes open and insert a new CD it'll ask to import the tracks, accept and Wait until this is complete before moving onto the next CD.
Songs in iTunes I believe are stored in the Music - iTunes folder, just copy and paste these into a folder on an external storage device (or change the iTunes file destination prior to importing your music).

Thanks Hassan - the problem is that I only have an iPad so I've no way of getting the CDs into iTunes and not much space to store them when I do :-(

I haven't tried this personally but I've done a quick bit of research for you and it looks like this apple app store app (for the iPhone and Ipad) would do the trick - at least as far as analogue music sources go:
    itunes.apple.com/us/…t=8

These guys (ION) also make the USB record and tape decks that make conversion to MP3 easier for PC owners. The ipad app is free so it's probably worth a try at least.

Obviously you can use this for your CD collection too but you're then downgrading sound quality to analogue. There's no easy way I've seen to get cd's converted to mp3 and / or into iTunes without the use of a PC or Mac. My advice would be to buy a relatively inexpensive PC or laptop with a built-in CD or DVD drive and rip the tunes straight into iTunes. Once you're done, flog the PC!.

Thank you very much indeed - that's really helpful, will go have a look at them!
I guess I need something like an iPad-friendly external storage drive with a cd drive, but I don't know whether an iPad would recognise such a thing ...

I'd say whatever consumer device that possibly exists with a sole purpose of ripping cd's for Apple devices - it's going to cost you a huge amount more than a 10 year old laptop which would arguably perform a better job with EAC software. (And would also do the analogue capture too, although probably in this case with less quality)
