    Iphone 3g 2.2.1 Unlocking

    Hi all

Im thinking of purchasing a new iphone that has the 2.2.1 version on it, however i'm on vodafone. I've read up they can now be unlocked so that anynetwork can be used, is this true? If so does anyone know how i can do it?

I'm a newbie to all this but could someone tell me the difference between unlocking and jailbreaking as im not sure what that is

    Cheers

jailbreaking allows you to install applications / games / themes that are not apple ones. Unlocking allows you to use any sim other than O2. I'll get you the link for unlocking 2.2.1, give me a min,

Thanks for that, can you just confirm i need to jailbreak first then downgrade and unlock

Yes you have to downgrade first but if your modem firmware is 2.30 and your bootloader is version 5.9 or over, then you are stuffed... until the dev team release their unlock for version 3.0 software.

You could use a Rebel SIM...if baseband is as above
