Whose phone is suffering from this issue?

In the week or so that i've had the phone, i've gotten Carphone Warehouse to changed it 3 times for a new one, because I believe it makes the phone completely unusable yet they and Apple maintain its a relatively minor issue, can't be so minor if 3 phones i've taken from 2 different batches suffer from it.

Its the most frusturating thing ever, having a phone that puts people on mute every minute or two, or hangs up on them or adds another random person into the phone conversation. Especially if you're a business man who needs your phone to function reliably

I really can't believe how bad it is, or that fact that others aren't suffering from it.

Have you upgraded to 4.0.2 as I had this problem constantly!! Then I upgraded the firmware and it then seemed to not happen again...

I use my iPhone a lot, and never had this trouble. I accept it happens, but not happening for me.

Ah okay, as metioned before I got mine from Carphone Warehouse, on orange, I wonder if that has anything to do with it

i have that on o2 with 16gb but i just use a case it seems to happen more with the case off but i used a cheap expertcse and also got the zag sheild on the screen as well but i know what you mean i have the loudspeaker one that does it for me all the time

Do you also have the problem with the "home" button sticking in!?

lots of talk about on AV forums

wow iphones are so good(!)

Mine has been fine.
Great piece of kit.

Why not go onto Apple Discussions - you get a worldwide selection of experts who may be able to diagnose or you can spot any trends to be used as evidence for any refund claims.

There have been rumours that the issue about the proximity sensor will be resolved in iOS 4.1 .

(It's not a minor issue-apple know about it and are working on it)

I have a 32Gb and a 16Gb both with the same problem. Both from different batches

Yup. All these people must have faulty heads if the iphone can't tell it's pressed up against their ear as there is no way apple would make anything that is less than perfect

Then there wasn't a problem with your sensor.

4.0.2 does NOTHING for the prox sensor. It was only released to prevent the PDF exploit jaibreakme.com used

The A4 1GHz processor and twice the RAM of the 3GS...not a "gimmick".
