    iPhone 6 Screen Repair options?

    Hey Guys,

I just smashed my iphone 6 screen

Has anyone had any experience sending your phone off to these send and repair websites? Im just cautious they might not send the phone back

The digitizer still works but the glass screen is cracked... ive seen alot of people say fix it yourself but ebay prices for the screen hover around £30 and my sister said she got hers repaired at our local highsreet phoneshop repairs them for £50 which doesn't seem too bad to avoid the hassle.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,

dont try to do it yourself unless you have at least done a 5 or 5s.
if you have never done one before then please dont try.
im not disrespecting you as you might be very clever, but ive done loads and the iphone 6 are sooo easy to damage the tiny ribbon cable that connects to the home/fingerprint button.
i wouldn't also send it anywere. my rule is, if i cannot walk in the door, i never buy anything from there
just like internet based banks ?
you can put your money into them but if there are problems you only have telephone numbers or email ? and if you get no joy from there then where do you go

Thanks for the Feedback! Yes i have actually repaired a iphone 5 screen a while back but i remember when i put it all back together the screen wouldn't sit flush anymore... dont want to risk that.

i think i will walk into my local highstreet and just pay the £50... and then make sure they give me back my old screen too -always good to have parts just incase right

it's only £20 more, save the hastle

If you do undertake it yourself (it's easier than a 5s with the stupid touchid ribbon placement!) then make sure you keep your original home button or touchid will fail till you swap it back over again. I'd recommend buying a screen that is complete with the earpiece etc already installed and just swap your home button over. It's easy, especially as you have done similar before. Just don't apply too much pressure to the screen when you are fixing it back to the housing. If it's not going in easily, there's a reason and force won't make it fit!

Don't be put off, I just did the 'difficult' 5s after watching a couple of youtube vids. It took me about 2 hrs and you need to be meticulous about the process. But for a total repair cost of 14 quid, was worth the effort.
Powerful magnifying glass on a stand helped.

Just as an update i went to my local highstreet and got it repaired for £40 which is a bargain however the LCD screen quality is just terrible, no deep blacks, washed out colours and even ghosting! I couldn't complain since i got it at a cheap price but i think next time i will do it myself! Probably going to get the iphone 7 now anyway... not sure if my OCD can live with this
