I'm thinking of buying a iPhone this week!
However, I cant warrent spending £270-£300 on a 3gb one when I can get a 2g one for £200 odd!
However apart from the looks, ( it will be in a case anyway) is there any major differences, any setbacks?
Im not that bothered about a 3g signal either..

The major difference would be that the new 3G iphone has a built in GPS receiver.
Even though the 2G iphone had google maps, it could only find your position if you were in a wifi hotspot and connected to the internet.
The GPS receiver also provides a much more accurate positioning.

Found a lot of info on google

Here’s a list of the 4 main differences that makes iPhone 3G quite better than the older 2G.

1. GPS Tracking (for using with Google Maps and other tracking apps downloadable from the App Store, like “GPS Tracker”, “Take Me To My Car” and “Speed”.

2. 3G network for faster data downloading

3. 3.5 mm headphone minijack for using all your headphones (the alder one is compatible only with Apple’s original iPhone 2G jacks or you have to buy a converter).

4. More space
